I realize since i've been down here in Pasadena for the past 4 months, there are no good forums and people seem to ride mostly for looks and not for the passion of riding like most of bay area people are like.
Sucks here in LA when it comes to finding cool riders!

the closer i ride to LA, the more ppl i see w/ mohawks on their helmets....
weve got better roads down here in SD, and the community seems a bit more focused on riding... but ure MUCH closer to the 3 racetracks so just go ride there. its more fun anyways.

I took a trip down to San Diego a few months back.
I'd never seen more helmet mohawks and more people pulling the front end up in my life. Everywhere I went, it was either someone trying to drag race with me off the light, or someone in a wife-beater and flip flops pulling the front wheel off the ground as they shot between cars...good way to make a point..i guess. :wtf
I guess hot weather is good for the reproduction of two things...bacteria...and calamari :squid

oh... and I was just thinking the same thing about the riding attitude down there... I think you have to get near the decent riding to get the decent riders... I mean look where we live.Theres world class riding all around us... down there you have to trek a ways to get anywhere unless youre in san diego or near the angeles national forest area...

nice... thanks. They have a dirt/ sm forum too. anybody know if the highway between san juan capistrano and lake elsinore is any good? I think I remember that road being super twisty coming to and from the camp thats up there.
edit: it looks like that road is under heavy construction... ortega hwy...i was right though its a pretty twist lil highway, and when the construction is done should be a pretty decent ride thats not too far... hmmmm . may have to street legal the bike again!

I spent 9 months in Eagle Rock, moved back north 6 months ago. Turned out there were only ghey riders in LA:twofinger
But seriously, if you haven't ridden Angeles Crest off the 2 fwy, you haven't ridden SoCal yet. It pays to do some recon for rocks on your way up, but the pavement is mint, and the curves are excellent:thumbup

John and I are now living in Cypress, near Long Beach. He had a hard time finding people to ride with, but he finally found a good group of people who aren't squidly to ride with. Now we are getting more into the mini bike racing with CMRRA instead of just riding on the road.
I think he mostly rides around Angeles Forest and some areas of Malibu. Ortega Hwy is one of those roads that is always busy, lots of cops and you always hear about MC accidents. I think they try to avoid that one as much as possible.

I'm in Brea, which is in North Orange County. I do most of my riding at the track these days, but I'll also ride around Glendora Mountain Road/Glendora Ridge Road quite a bit. Much less crowded/known than The Crest or Ortega. very few cars. I usually head up there with guys from triumph675.net

True story, my wife was on campus when the petitions were out to fight the law. When one of the guys asked my wife to sign it she said she didn't support it. The guy then goes on to insult her, calling her names about how she doesn't understand what it is like and being a square (yep, said it, square).
My wife is a recovering alcoholic.
She was happy when the story came back that the signatures were falsified:rofl

Grew up in Fountain Valley, and moved up the San Francisco 2005. Met and married a Disneyland Nut, and she and I will eventually be moving back to LA/OC. Miss the warm beaches, friends, desert riding, and rural housing. Loads of street bikes up here, and many back roads, but they do exist in LA you just have to find them. Traffic I can deal with as I have in the past. Never purchased so many hoodies in my life, since living here.

With the population in LA Area, your best bet is to google that area, and look for the squiggly roads. North of LA, or like mentioned Angeles Crest Mountain Area. Take a ride over the hills to Willow Springs Raceway. Ride North to Buttonwillow Raceway, via Hwy 33. Check it out. Even from The OC it's still one-day-ride do-able.
