Does the AFM already have the 2008 Formula Pacific cut-off times for each track? I'm curious to see how much faster I need to go to make the cut.

Cheers,
Tigre

I do not think so... I looked at some of the riders towards the mid to back and they are not any faster that the average pro... The top 5-8 however move a shake a little better... :)

The '07 Text version of the rules seems to have been updated with respect to the AMA configuration times at Sears and state the following with respect to FP. Not that you'll see my slow arse in that class any time soon.

"Formula Pacific
0-Open cc A class for the fastest riders. At Infineon, riders must achieve a consistent lap time of 1:45.0 to enter; at Thunderhill, 1:59.0; at Buttonwillow, 1:56.0. If a rider appears they will be lapped before the end of the race they may be black-flagged.
Riders may be required to prove lap time eligibility from official AFM time sheets. Any rider receiving the meatball flag because they did not meet the lap time criteria may not re-enter the class until they can show such proof".

Sounds reasonable

Hmm... I'll look at my book again. I thought the 1:45.0 was printed into the book at the beginning of 2007 before we had a year of experience running the AMA config. I thought I remembered Kevin mentioning that it would be updated for 2008 to reflect the AMA config times.

Also.... I wasn't sure if the thresholds for B/W and T-Hill might have moved lower.

I guess we'll have to wait for the '08 rulebook to see if they've lowered it for this year but the text version online does reflect the change from 1:56 to 1:59 in the 600 classes at Sears (PDF version still shows 1:56). Can't see anyone having a problem with you doing consistent times 1:45 or lower cuz you wouldn't be dead last or getting lapped. Just go for it :thumbup

yep, but running at the back of the FP pack unfortunately puts you with guys you're probably already racing with in your own races... The time I entered I was running around with JT, Kurt Spencer, etc. All guys who I practiced with and don't really care about racing against. I think most of us run FP in hopes of getting dragged up to speed by Mesa, or whoever, so in my opinion if that isn't working for you it's a waste of a race entery.

Joe's right, Tigre. You'll be better off running up a class if you can.

Thanks -- good advice, all.
