Anyone up on hiking? I am probably going to be going for a long hike on Sunday afternoon next weekend, would be chill if some fellow riders wanted to join me, get a good group going... Or maybe a further out weekend if more notice is needed

I am between these 3 for Sunday, probably leaning towards Armstrong. Now that it's sunny out I'd like to go every weekend, Saturdays I am normally doing other stuff...

I personally would probably hit up one of the more strenuous hikes, but if some people wanted to go and just take it easy I am cool with that too.
I'm interested. It just won't be until March. Since I'm at the track the next two weekends...:(

Its pretty nice once you get on trails and away from the tourists. I've never been to armstrong but, its sounds like fun.

For sure to both of you and Oz (And anyone else I didn't respond to). I recently purchased a website domain and want to make a blog/organize all the key Sonoma county hiking trails as the information isn't well organized so far. So there will definitely be hikes going, I'll post up here and I will be going every weekend and anyone is welcome to join me... also if anyone has suggestions I am open to them as well.

You said you are going to be hiking this weekend on sunday right? Any idea how long of a trail or hard. As of now I'm free this weekend to go hiking.
just checked google maps its a two hour drive to get there. If its as nice a muir woods then I wouldn't mind making the drive out.

Yeah I am getting my First aid/CPR certification on Saturday so Sunday I'll be free. The two hikes I am between are below. I would be up for either of them.
Strenuous 5.6 Miles with 1100' climb: Take the East Ridge Trail from the front parking lot to the Gilliam Creek trailhead. Loop back down to the Grove by taking the Pool Ridge Trail to the Armstrong Tree. Return to the entrance via the Pioneer Trail.
Strenuous 9 Miles with 1500' climb. Take the East Ridge Trail from the front parking lot to Bullfrog Pond Campground. Return via the trail or road to the Pool Ridge Trailhead, taking this trail back to the Grove. Return to the entrance via the Pioneer Trail.

I'm not in the best of shape so I am leaning towards the one with the least elevation climb and 5.6 miles.

Not organized. Oz just suggested this hike to hell and I accepted the challenge. I believe I mentioned once or twice how much I HATE that place. :laughing In fact a coworker was there this weekend and confirmed the shitty, slippery, shale-infested trails are still there. But, if I am going to go back there, I'll take April over June. Hellish terrain without hellish heat is managable.
This pace for this will be somewhat brisk and not very nooB friendly. It will also take at least 7 hours.

If for whatever reason any of you find yourselves in AZ then I would highly recomend Sedona. Awsome beautiful place

Actually I will be in AZ next weekend. We plan on doing a short hike at Finger rock. http://www.arizona.sierraclub.org/trail_guide/HIKE26.HTM

I've been doing some trail running/hiking pretty much all year. Lots of fun.
I started doing it with these people which is cool because of the marked trails and food afterwards.
www.pctrailruns.com
But now because of my schedule and time I've been doing them on my own or with friends. I might sign up for the Sept 20 Skyline to the Sea 50k. Hopefully I'll be able to finish in the time allowed - 8hrs.
