I've been tasked with putting together a new tool kit for my department.

Like a lot of other IT departments we have the weird collection of left over tools, a few good screw drivers and a decent crimping tool.....

What I'm looking for is a good, fairly complete, tool kit. I look at Craftsman, and I like the quality of the hand tools, but they don't seem to have a tech kit.

Other places have tech kits, but the quality of the tools isn't what I'd like.

Any recommendations on sources, or barring that, anything that is a 'must have' for your tool kit?

I've never been able to find a complete tech set of tools. Plus I've found it more enjoyable to put one together on my own from the parts I like.

I could recommend parts that I've put into mine that I like, but it seems that you'd want a complete kit...

I'm beginning to agree with you about my chances of finding a complete set.

I've been looking around on a few sites, and one offers an upgrade to Craftsman quality tools.. but then charge more for them than the Sears web site ?.?.? Do people really not compare prices when it's that obvious?

So my current strategy is putting together a list of tools, then seeing if I can build a full kit out of the smaller kits offered at Sears (like the 24 piece mini-driver set, plus the pliers set.... = full kit.

Personally, if you are looking for a real good set of screw drivers, you can't beat
Wiha Tools (http://www.wihatools.com/). Even with shitty soft screws I've never had problems with stripping. I've had a set of the Precision #26199 Slotted & Phillips Tools for around 5-6 years and they are still in top notch condition.:thumbup
