Was reading through the latest meeting's transcript and noticed this:
8. Z2 trackdays is looking to hold a USGPRU event at Reno/Fernley. There will be also a 3 hour endurance in August w/ different classes.
Comments:
SR: request permission to use the AFM race structure in these events.
Open gp, Formula 1,2,3, clubmanlike class, and a class IV sprint race.
General discussion regarding potential competition against AFM and potential exposure to AFM.
Passed until next meeting.

I checked the USGPRU web site and they have August 22-24 scheduled as the RFR race. That would be the weekend after the AFM race at Infineon, Round 5.
I for one would do my best to make it. I love the layout of the track (surface could be better, as could the facilities) and I love the way that Shawn, David and crew run things. Does this pique anyone's interest?
Could also be a good chance for the AFM to see how potential races there would play out.

What, didn't you say USGPRU is just a bunch of teenage girls? I don't want to race any more but I'll watch the races in between my riding sessions and help out a AFM 125 buddy in the pits.
Damn you tight-lipped Z2 people, fess up about the special event or I'm heading over to Zoran's with my waterboarding tools.

Hahaha... I bet if I showed up they would really like to kick my ass! :rofl:rofl I'm hearing through the grapevine that I ruffled some feathers by not giving USGPRU respect as a "national series" or "MotoGP feeder class" or whatever they call themselves... :rolleyes We have some real drama queens in roadracing, don't we?! The funniest thing ever was an out-of-the-blue MySpace message I got a couple of weeks ago from a current factory rider, apparently taking offense to a post I had made almost a year ago on a forum that I had heard he was on a "buy-a-ride" program... and he had to set me straight that he would "never pay to ride for some1"...:rolleyes Ironically I was giving the kid lots of credit, praising him for being a talented rider who could really go somewhere in the sport. Boy are some of these kids (and sometimes their "little league parents") overly sensitive - it's only a matter of time before Kleenex tissues and Vagisil become major sponsors in roadracing... :rofl:rofl
Still, it might be fun to go up to Reno Fernley and do an endurance race as long as it doesn't get too hot, although last time I went there in the summer it was much more pleasant weather than both T-hill and Buttonwillow. I like that track a lot, especially if they clean up some of those nasty bumps someday.:thumbup

Aren't you in his top 8 Zoran?
I think I found me an endurance partner if this goes forward. <3 that track, I can deal with some bumps/rough asphalt.

Ha ha. That's what Z does for meditation. It will have little effect.
Just keep the weekend open. There will be USGPRU racing and there will be other racing as well. :teeth
We can't give all the details yet because they're not all worked out yet. Just keep the weekend open...you will not be disappointed.

Will RFR be doing any resurfacing this year, David?

I don't believe for one second that Z2 is now in the business of sanctioning endurance roadracing. Obviously there is USGPRU racing going on with the Z2 event that weekend. I'd just like to know what that "special" Z2 event is. It looks like I'll still have to wait and see.

So.. why is the owner of Z2 asking the AFM to use it's classes/structure for an endurance race then? :laughing

Will RFR be doing any resurfacing this year, David?
That's the plan. They've told us they expect to resurface parts of the track and maybe even create some additional connections for more track configurations. But, of course, nothing definite yet.

I was at Summit Racing yesterday and perused a Reno-Fernley Raceway brochure* from a RFR display. In it was a calendar of events. On the weekend in question it listed "Zoom Zoom endurance race." Well, I'll be a monkey's uncle.
* In the middle of the brochure was a photo of a 250GP bike in action. Fuck yeah! (OK, it was a Honduh, but still, it was a bike, not a car, and a two stroke race bike at that.) It also featured some bike track day action photos.

Man. You are quite the detective, aren't you? We have lots of surprises planned (although not quite as surprising as your simian nephew :laughing).
