SOLD
My bike got hit by a car while parked (http://www.bayarearidersforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=234135), so rather than put it back together, I got something else and I'll be selling this one. It's currently in the shop getting an estimate.
The bike was in excellent shape until it was hit. From the looks of it the damage was primarily from the bike sliding on its side. The shop (Godspeed in Oakland) has so far called me to say that everything is straight and true: frame, forks, swingarm and wheels, and I can show you that documentation.
Bike has 31,xxx miles on it. Registration is current and the tittle is clean. I have complete service records for this bike going back a few years. I performed maintenance regularly to keep it in great running condition.
Before I took the bike in to the shop I did a cursory evaluation and it seemed to me that the damage was all cosmetic. When I get word from the shop, hopefully in the next day or two, I'll update this thread with the new info.
Here's what it looks to be at this point: the fairings are all cracked or scratched. None of it is serious, but they aren't in perfect condition anymore. They'll work fine. You may want to stitch them, but they probably don't even need it. The tail fairing needs to be replaced entirely, as does the front fender. One Vortex frame slider puck was damaged (but it's just the replaceable puck - the metal base is fine), the mid pipe that goes with the 2 Bros slip-on got dented, but I've still got the stock pipe so no biggie, the rearsets (Woodcraft, just put them on) and handlebars seemed to be in good shape, one engine case got scratched, the seat has a tear in the back.
Here's the good stuff:
This bike is a STRONG runner. Michelin Pilot powers front and rear have 75% life left. The tank is practically pristine and was not messed up at all in the crash. I recently rebuilt the cooling system with new components. All fluids are fresh. I just added a dynojet stage 1 kit and cleaned and synched the carbs. Mechanically, there is NOTHING wrong with the bike. Recently added Vortex frame sliders, the kind with solid bases and replaceable pucks. Bike also has a manual thermostat override switch so you can turn the fan on early for sitting in traffic on extra hot days. Bike has your standard upgrades like Zero Gravity windscreen, Second Look seat, TechSpec removable tank grip, stainless steel brake lines front and rear, etc. Chain is in decent condition. I put tapered rolling bearings in the steering head.
To be legal, the bike needs:
tail light.
To be a decent street ride, but not pretty, it would need:
new tail section, tail light, new turn signals, right side mirror.
This is a great bike for the city, track, streetfighter conversion or rehabilitation, and would be a great bike for a new rider. You know, so when you drop it it won't be a big deal. As I said, bike is in excellent running condition. With new plastics and a few bits and pieces this bike could be back in great looking condition too. I’ll be able to throw in a bunch of parts along with it: Two Bros slip on and (bent) midpipe, original pipe, original windscreen, Clymer manual, extra water pump, etc.
I'd like to get $2000 for the bike as-is.
I also have a LP swing arm that I'll include for a couple of bucks (I'm thinking $40)
These two pics are from before and after.
