I just need something I can surf on my wifi at home. Cheap = less then 500 bucks.

Or I have a bunch of stuff (Chatter box, helmet cam, hunting rifles...) I can trade.

kthxbye

dude!

shoulda hit me up 2 weeks ago, I sent theo's T40 that I fixed up to my parents since I didn't need two of em!

plenty of them on craigslist for 500 or less though..........

Thx, I'll check my bank account

:laughing just after I posted this I told a friend they could borrow 500 from me so they could visit a sick relative.

the downside is that it is processed by
AMD AthlonTM 64 X2 Dual-Core processor TK-57 with 1.9GHz/256KB. Has Genuine Windows® XP Home Edition and does not include MS Word.
its a 15.4 inch Wide Screen. A minimum of only 1GB DDR2 SDRAM with the a minimum of. 120GB 5400RPM Hard Drive

The reliablility with their battery will stop holding its fixed amount of hours for less than a year, and youd have to purchase a new one. Those who have dell labtops know what I mean. Again, theres always a first to everything. :)

I have an HP ZD7000 I *might* be willing to let go for $400. 17" widescreen, 802.11b, DVD. Replaced the stock 60GB hard drive with a big 'n' fast 100GB 7200rpm Hitachi (speed made a huge difference), and I know it's got at least 1GB of RAM. I replaced the LCD hinges last year, these new ones are nice and tight, like new. It's a full blown P4 3.0GHz, so unlike the crippled Celerons, or the current generation of Dual-Cores, it tends to run hot if you're doing really processor-intensive operations. Would be fine for web surfing and general productivity though. At around 10 lbs w/ power cord, it's definitely made more for sitting on a desktop than lugging around!

It's been sitting idle for most of the past 2 years. Don't expect much from the battery life; probably should be replaced soon.

That's no shit right there!

I have two dell LTs and a desktop. The reason for me wanting a new LT is because my older one won't hold a charge, the power cord broke and they wanted 70 bucks for a new one :wtf (I sell AC adaptors and our cost is around 15 bucks) MY DVD drive only works sometimes and its beat to shit.

My S/O's LT all of a sudden won't hold a charge. She just spent 100 bucks for a new battery and that wasn't the problem so she has to send it back to Dell and prepay 398 bucks before they even look at it. She refuses to call a local computer repair shop for some fucking reason.

Anyway she's going out of town for 10-days and taking my POS with her. That's why I posted this thread.

I've found a ton of used laptops on CL so I'm moving this thread. Thanks for all the PM's and offers but I think I'm just gonna get an apple :shocker

Is this worth looking at? ...

A cheap HP/Compaq should satisfy your wifi surfing needs. It will likely be loaded with Vista, but that can be fixed if necessary.

This one has better specs, but breaks your price point.
