with risk of being flamed .... but i always understood the definition to also be simply discribed as

Squid: a rider who rides faster than his/her abilities.

and ie, is dangerious...

There are several different interpretations of squidliness.

To me it is an unsafe rider.

Be it skill, gear, or control that makes them unsafe.

ya i interpret a squid as riding unsafely, endangering others, etc ,etc. i'm an admitted squid. :D

just about all of us started out as squids though. some never made it out of that pool (cough admission of guilt cough) :instance :p

Well, dirt squids are probably more widely accepted, you're SUPPOSED to get nutz in the dirt.

I think it's the whole "playing in traffic" thing.... something our mothers (well, MINE anyway) told us not to do if we wanted to live to be old...

I started as a 'responsible' newbie (aka chickensh*t) and have only recently started to get squidly. Twist throttle, go fast, twist throttle HARD, go REAL fast... oooh, triple digits!! Whee!!

There must be a dirt version of squids... somewhere on the net during a google search for something or other, I came upon a column/editorial about stupid crazy dirtbikers... from a dirtbiker :laughing

Something about big risks, little to no safety gear, yada yada. Sounds familiar? ;)
