How often do you change the oil in your beast? I've heard every 4 tanks or every 10 hours but that seems kinda frequent.

yeah, it take like 0.6 or 0.7 qt(liters?), I forgot, its in the manual. There is also an oil filter too, but it doesn't say where. Anybody know?

The nice thing is, the amount is just about whats left after buying a 4qt(liter) thing of oil and filling my dr/yzf.

no oil filter, just a mesh screen. i've changed it before, just need to know how often.

there is a "oil strainer screen" but don't know where it is, manual says check every 1,200 miles.

there is a "oil centrifugal filter", same schedule, I have no idea never heard of this before.

oil 10-40 SG (no moly, no energy conserving, no non-detergent/vegetable/castor-based racing oils)

oil change schedule is:
100 miles; 600 miles; 1,200; 1,800; 2,400; etc.

capacity: 0.6 US qt, warm engine, turn off, bike upright, top up to upper mark on dipstick

i have also found that you really have to rock the bike side to side, back and forth to get ALL the oil out. i had the bike on two 55 gallon drums with a pail under the oil plug, i had the bike almost completly on its side, then i would come up and more oil would come out. I did this a couple of times to make sure it was all out. Just some info for ya....

I guess I'll change the oil if I ever brake a side cover or something and the oil spills out. Other than that once a year if it needs it or not :thumbup

cool, thanks twowheel. I guess the oil hangs up in the head or something? where was that mesh strainer screen? maybe cycling the kickstart (switch off) would help. :confused

No need to replace the strainer... just clean it with carb cleaner and put it back in...

Does your 50 have an odometer?
