Oil Filter Cover

So I finally changed the oil on my ninja 250, and I managed to forget to replace the metal cover for the oil filter. Any one know if this is really necessary? Or can I make it a few day without it? Thanks in advanced.

If you mean the metal cover that goes on top of the oil filter, yeah you're ok for a few days. I think it might change filtration some, but the bike should be fine.

If you mean the lower cover that holds the oil filter in, DO NOT start the bike with that off.

Ha, yea its the upper cover that slips on over the filter. I guess I will rechange my oil again this weekend....
