Hey All,

Lots of riders in the area that I've "waved" to in the 1 week that I've had my new 07 ninja.

So, why not all of us meet at Hacienda Crossings (Regal IMAX), there's a starbucks, jamba juice etc...Maybe you guys do hook up there - I'm new to the area but posting this anyway.

Good way for to meet some more fellow riders, and enjoy a summer's worth of sane skillful riding.

Let's pick a date and time!

Great to hear some responses. Let's all meet on Sunday 30th - I'm guessing none of us have to work, forecast looks fine for that day - do some riding, grab lunch - open to suggestions.

If anyone wants to ride prior to that just shoot me a pm.

See you all on the roads.

Meet n Greet @ Starbucks starting @ 12:30pm :Party

Option 1: kickstands @ 1pm
Option 2: kickstands @ 2pm

We can park the bikes next to the ticket booth next to the entrance doors at the Cinema on the right side (looking towards the cinema) - safer with all the traffic in the parking lots on a Sunday, and will give us a chance to take some pics of the bikes "in formation". :cool

Official photographer position is open - volunteers welcome.

So just park ur bike and head on over to Starbucks.

If this is your first bike, and you only have 200 or so miles, you are NOT ready for a group ride. Don't mean to be blunt, but group rides are always more dangerous than solo or paired riding.

Go here: http://www.bayarearidersforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=162143 and read every one of these twice. Take notes, re-read the bits you need to know.

I'm not trying to be a hardass, but if the leader & sweeper aren't paranoid about bringing together a bunch of folks who've never ridden together as a group, they should be. Headcounts, rally points, map(s) of the route, first aid and repair materials are necessary items, especially for the sweeper.

Case in point - I swept a group a couple of years ago, and the two leaders had gotten drunk the night before, and were still hung over from that night. They were not competent to ride, much less lead the group. One had to park her bike and I had to give her a ride through the rest of the trip. And she almost hurled on me. Barfer, for sure... :laughing

Oh, and for what it's worth, I'm not the one who pwned Calaveras a couple of weeks ago. My bike has been 'resting' for the winter, and I just yesterday finished replacing the head gasket, setting the valves, and swapping out the exhaust. So it wasn't me.

That reminds me of the Barfer who had a license plate that said 'OWNZ9'. Until someone pulled out of a driveway and he T-boned it, almost fatally.

Anybody that 'ownz' will get 'pwned' eventually. Grim reality, folks. Oh, and paranoids live longer. Get used to it... :laughing

Alva now don't tell me ur too lazy to read YOUR OWN THREAD that I posted a response to INVITING u to this ride on Sunday:teeth

Dubbington u r more than welcome to come on bye for the meet n greet and meet fellow riders that can give u tips/ advice as mentioned in the above post.

As for group riding, I agree it needs coordination, sense, some skill. We don't want anyone feeling as though they are under any pressure - once we reach our destination (TBD) ride at ur own pace.

I'm breaking this zx6r in so can't go all out just yet.

The purpose of this meet n ride is to meet fellow riders, exchange cell numbers and ride whenever and wherever with whomever!

Ok so what route should we ride on Sunday?! I'm guessing we have around 8-10 riders coming down.

Lemme clarify here, m'kay? I'm not 'Da Boss' of the meet, so I'm not making any rules here. Far as I'm concerned, it's a get-together, social-gathering sort of thing at *buks.

If there's a ride afterwards, and if I sweep, my stress level will be much lower if everyone in the riding group knows 'The Pace', there's no squidly behavior, and all have enough miles in the saddle to ride well within a group. No stoppies, wheelies, rolling endos, etc. while in the same lane, or stunts that endanger anybody else, draw the attention of any LEOs, or scare children... :laughing

My favorite rides are ones that don't have hospitals, EMTs, ambulances, life-flights, etc.

And I'm only bringing enough flares and first aid equipment for one accident. Anybody that requires the use of these items gets to pay me for replacements... :twofinger :laughing

are you seriously bringing flares?:rofl come on dude this is a group ride relax and dont sweep if your worried. How else is he going to learn to ride. are you seriously bringing flares?:rofl come on dude this is a group ride You evidently have never been at the scene of an accident. If you were the one who crashed, wouldn't you want to prevent more accidents? That's what the flares are for. I'd venture to guess that you were never in the Boy Scouts or military.

relax and dont sweep if your worried. How else is he going to learn to ride. I do relax, once I know how the others ride in a group. How else is Dubbington going to learn? That's up to him. Hopefully, he'll learn the right things. I've crashed my bikes more times than I can count (amnesia will do that to ya...) and I tried to learn from each one. What I learned the best was that I'd rather learn from good examples and other's mistakes. They cost less... Oh, and spelling nazi alert - there's an apostrophe between the n & t in 'don't', and it's 'you're worried'... :laughing

This is a public forum allowing public riders to get together. Umm... That is either solipsitic or nonsense, your choice.

Your not responsible for anything If I'm sweeping the group, then I'm responsible for group safety. That's what the sweep position is for. I'm gonna make an assumption here... You don't go on very many group rides, or at least group rides that are safe.

and if your that worried then dont go on the ride but dont tell someone that they cant come out.:mad I'm concerned, not worried. There's a difference. I'm not telling Dubbington he can't come on a group ride, I'm speaking from experience and referring to the BARF Group Rides stickies that he needs to put on many more miles in the saddle before HE will feel comfortable in a group ride.

Then you should check out the weekday Dublin/Pleasanton group ride, it's been a BARF standard for the last 5 years or more. We meet at the Las Positas/Hopyard Lucky's at 11:30 on Wednesdays or Thursdays, leave at almost exactly 11:45, do a loop down Foothill into Sunol, go up Palomares, and come back into Pleasanton along the frontage road. A quick group lunch at the Stoneridge Taco Bell, and everybody splits to go back to 'normal' stuff.

Scott Nelson is the group lead, OFG is the honorary second in command, and I sweep. Yes, I've had lots of practice sweeping. I've thought about mounting a broom on my bike just for fun. OFG rides a KTM 960, so 'tards are cool.

The internet has a way of bringing out parts of people that you wouldn't see in real life. I'm sure you guys will get along much better in person.

I'll be leaving Stockton around 1130 or so, so I should be there about 1230. If this is just going to be a poser corner, I may not stick around long... I want to ride a bit before this week.

Let me know what u all thought, and if this was a good meeting spot. The next ride can be more "planned" ie. destination decided prior etc.

Yea there are a few unsettling bumps on a few curves, but that's just part of the ride..and some gravel on one of the stretches that was unavoidable and hit my faceshield and got some minor scratches on it!

Anyone been to the Fremont meet that happens on Thursdays evenings?

Mount diablo, santa cruz erc should be some rides we can plan for on the weekend!

Check this out for Saturday 04/05

http://www.weather.com/weather/tenday/94568?from=36hr_fcst10DayLink_undeclared

As per the report - this calls for a day out riders.

We can hook up at the same spot and head south to Fremont (automall/880) pick up the guys from there (I can set that up) and head out to santa-cruz?

Ideas welcome.
