Hey Greg! I've been an avid skater/rollerblader most of my life and actually have been looking for a skating partner to hit the Iron Horse trails with.

It's been a while so I'm not nearly as fast as I used to be (when I used to skate along side of Rich on his mountain bike ;) ) Let me know and we can meet somewhere local! I can definitely give ya some coaching! It would be helping me a lot too just to get out there again! :)

Skateboarding is what I need help with.

I am looking for a good route to do laps on with the rollerblades. Ironhorse/Canal trail in my area is in bad shape.

Well you shoulda said skateboarding!!! :cry Good luck with that! LOL
If you ever want to rollerblade.. let me know I usually start in Walnut Creek and turn around in Danville.. but its been a while. The trail there is smooth and shady!

Also Im sure some of the kids at the skate park in Concord and Walnut Creek can coach ya with the boards!

Walnut creek & Moraga, fairly routinely. Just went to fairfield, Very nice. Been to Benicia (too big for me) Sacramento (way too big for me) Pleasanton, Vallejo, Martinez, Antioch (shitty) Brentwood, Alameda, Berkeley (now closed) Alameda, Piedmont (pretty lame for how much money they have) Sunnyvale (kicks ass!)
I'm planning a weekend to Auburn, then Truckee and Incline Village. Also Another weekend to everything on the 101 up to Willits.

In the kiddy pool at Concord I am pretty solid with rocks, fakies, smiths and feebles.Tail and 50/50 stalls and the occasional decent frontside slash. Looking to work blunt stalls, 50/50 variables/variations, front foot tail stall (very awkward) And learn to ollie so I can incorporate all this coping work into something more substantial.
I am hoping to start pulling some of this basic stuff on 5'-6' transitions in the near future. Right now, being up on the coping on the intermediate stuff is still a little skeeerry at times. The big stuff I just cruise around, but i long to hear the sweet sound of my wheels rolling over tiles on the way to real pool coping.

To get this thread back on track, I want to post a question about the current skateboard equipment. I am considering getting a new board, and don't recognize the manufacturers anymore. Who makes good bearings (I know Swiss are hi dollar, but are they worth it?), are Independent still good trucks, what wheels are good for concrete parks and some street skating, etc?

boards are more dependent on what kinda shape you feel comfortable on.
7.87 or 8.5 is good for all terrain, (street and park)

i like deluxe, (krooked, anti-hero, and real) but then again, anyone else's preferences' is different (who you wanna support, graphic, price, concave)
just go to a skate shop and stand on a few different boards from different companies.

swiss is good shit, definitely worth the money...keep em clean and they'll last for years.

indepdents are still good, just crank down the stock bushings for the first few weeks, then loosen them gradually.

wheels...ummm i guess Bones Swiss street technology or spitfires streetburners 54mm

if ya have any other questions, shoot me a PM and i can point ya in the right direction. :thumbup
