i want to make my 2001 klx 300 electric start, how hard would this be for a beginner and any suggestions on the estart??

thanks :D ive been looking too and its a pretty penny but im wondering/looking to see if there is some other alternative, thanks again

Sure thing! Good luck with your search!

Why did you want to convert it?

ahhh you know im just lazy haha that and im trying to tard it so an e start would help

Don't bother, you'll end up dumping two grand into the bike to get the electric start and you'll wind up with a two thousand dollar system on a two thousand dollar bike. Save the pennies and put them towards a wheel set.

I ran a similar thread for my old XR250L
New spark plug valve adjustment and charged battery thing starts one or two kicks
Everyone here explained that adding electric start was not the way to go; if you want it get a different bike

Adjust the valves and it will start with ease! My 04 300 was getting hard to start and it was the intake valves closing up. Also 01 has the old ACR timing which makes it harder to start. Go over to thumpertalk and find a guy named Brewster and he can fix that for you for a Six pack and shipping!

i just got a 2005 DRZ400E electric start still original back tire for just more then you will spend to add electric start. its a mule if you like hill climbing and trail riding. Not for the track though.... My friend got a 2005 CRF450X with electric start.... he paid 2K more but wow its nice... Good luck
