video crash analysis

He was off in the dirt for a bit then came up too quick behind the other rider and hit the brakes too hard...probably had a bit of dirt on front tire.

Seems like a fair assessment, but I don't see any extra info on the crash, so I don't see how an accurate analysis would be possible.

I have no clue how the bike went down. Going slow, looks just bigger than a 250, then it's like hit grabbed a bunch of front brake.

I dont know, but to me it seems as though he passed a patch of gravel on the roadway. Just before the crash, on the left, there is a dirt patch that must have moved onto the roadway some how. My guess is that the rear tire lost traction, started spinning faster than the bike was traveling (that would explain that puff of smoke just before he goes down), then when it regained traction, it threw the bike sideways. But thats just my guess!

:dunno

I think he thought the other rider was coming into his line and he was closing to fast and squeezed off too much brake. possibly the rear brake too hard. I'm new at this but that is my guess.

im going for something violently siezed or he downshifted too early causing some major issues with the rear or engine because it seems a little too early before the turn to be braking.

I don't know. It appears to me like the engine locked up.

looks like it. How often does the chain break and lock up the wheel? it looked like the rear tire locked up??

He was braking to position up right behind the black rider as the camera bike was at the same speed as the the rider in front. You can see his speed was 10-20mph faster than the other two as he comes into the apex of that turn and into a brown dirty patch. The racing line is way over to the right of that turn and he was attempting to squeeze in and just pulled too much front brake with too little traction because of the dirt. If you've never experienced what even a patch of dirt can do to a race tire, you probably wont agree with this, but i've had it happen...a sticky tire picks up sand and dirt and instantly its like a bunch of ball bearings on your contact patch.

Moved from Crash Analysis because it really doesn't meet the 'spirit' of the Crash Analysis forum.

The motorcycle is an RC51. The way that the motorcycle crashes, and the way the rider is falling off the motorcycle, is a very clear indicator that it was a front tire skid.

i'm going to go with warm up lap, first lap of the session, cold tires front end tuck

too much brake trying to fit in between the you and the rider in front

too bad, i have a soft spot for RC51s
