Sup with it.

Just wondering if any of you guys/girls like to mixx music?

I spin all types of genre's from hardcore rock-RnB-Rap-Funk-Disco-Trance-Techno :D, I have 2 turntables. 2 CDJ's, 2 Mixxers, and shitloads of speakers and crates full of vinyl. I'm always throwing fat ass house parties at my pad in San Leandro, and I also DJ at alot of bars and clubs aswell.

Anyone share the same interest?

Here is my setup:

Do you have old Scratch Party, Mixx-It or demo (cassette) tapes from the old bay area DJ groups?

I've wanted to get into mixing music for a while now. Used to mash CD's together with a buddyi n in Korea, but i wouldn't call it mixing :)

Any thoughts on a "starter" set up?

Yo, mixer here... in training lol. I don't practice like I should, but i love it! Using a laptop and the new torq exponent, works good for me, all digital system, outputs to monitor and booth and headphones for queing etc.

Should have a DJ gathering sometime.

How about us "old school" DJ's who handle the Parties? Birthdays, Weddings ect not much scratching just have to be able to please a crowd that ranges fro 5 to 95 years old and have a collection that works for them all:thumbup

Had my first DJ rig when I was 15 almost 30 years ago now!!!!! My parents bought it for me for abotu $800 ( in pounds) adn I paid it all back to them within a month of doing gigs. Made more money running gigs, Thursday, Friday and Saturday night than I did working all week at my regular job.

Still have about 4000 7" singles and about 400 12' singles and albums. Wish I had time to get them all in digital format. Worked in a record store for over a year when I was 16 and got paid in vinyl, so the collection is pretty good. They are a bitch to carry around though:rofl

It is a great proffesion to be in, I never went full time, sometimes I wish I had.

Good luck with it and I would enjoy a chance to listen to what you "new school" guys are playing:thumbup
