Hi all. The Z² Race Weekend at RFR is less than four weeks away (8/22 - 8/24). If you're interested in racing with us, sign up ASAP. Remember only the first 20 Endurance teams who sign up will get to participate in the Super Pole on Saturday.
Since we're getting close to the race, we decided to post up some of the questions we've received lately. As always, feel free to email or call if you have questions that aren't answered below or on our website. Hope to see you there.

1) Why?
RFR wanted to expand their Super Cycle weekend in '08 and asked if we'd be interested in participating. Historically it's only been Supermoto and Sidecars. We were also looking for the right venue to hold an endurance race with some special features and USGPRU asked us to hold a round for them like we did in 2006 as well.
Over the years people have suggested the AFM hold qualifying and add additional endurance races to the calendar. Currently this isn't a viable option for the AFM, so our race is going to be a test bed for several features that have been suggested. In addition, we will be testing a radically new timing system that may replace the AFM’s current dbCom system.
2) Why RFR?
Reno-Fernley Raceway has some features we haven't seen anywhere else. Shawn has been to 25+ tracks all over the world and he’s found RFR to be one of the most unique. Reno-Fernley Raceway is at the stage where Thunderhill was 10 years ago and we firmly believe we need to help support their growth. Thunderhill is where they are today thanks to the support of the motorcycle community. Holding a race at RFR will also provide us with valuable data and feedback to see if RFR could support a future AFM round.
3) Isn't RFR really bumpy?
It isn't billiard table smooth by any means, but it's in much better shape than some tracks in California and it’s definitely in better shape than some of your friends would have you believe. Being in Nor Cal we're incredibly spoiled with the likes of Infineon and Thunderhill, but go further south and you'll start finding tracks that will rattle your fillings. In order for RFR to improve their track, they need to generate revenue and hopefully this race will help increase the number of motorcycle events there.
4) What if I just wait to see how the '08 event goes and then maybe go in '09?
To be honest, if this is a financial disaster we won't be coming back to race in '09. We're too small a company and we cannot withstand a huge monetary loss. Our yearly income
doesn't pay anyone's mortgage despite what anyone might think. Even the AFM, with its well-established fifty year history, would be in dire financial straits if it took a hit of several rainout events in a year. We could only withstand one.
5) Will the entry fee go up if I don’t preregister?
Yes. Entries will increase by $30 for sprint races and $75 for endurance if not in by August 8th. But, if you sign up for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, you’ll get $50 off for Friday (even the New Racer School).
6) Why a 250k endurance and not longer?
250k was decided upon by several factors but mainly to control costs to the participants. Costs of additional fuel to run longer and the need for a second set of tires were the primary reasons to keep the shorter race. It also works out well to run a 3-person team at approximately 25-minute or 45-minute stints, which should help with fatigue on this very technical and tight course.
7) Will there be tire service?
Brian Davis, formally of Moto Shoes, will supply tires from the 4 big brands. You must pre-order what set(s) you need so contact Brian at: mtnsapo@yahoo.com
8) Do the teams need to supply a scorer for the endurance race?
All the RF id tag tests completed successfully and we don’t expect any problems but we will have members of the AFM scoring team as a back-up.
