View Full Version : to run or not to run?
I'm coming home from work its in the early am
I take my regular route from pine street (30mph lights are timed) to masonic (60mph up the hill turn left then up a crest then down) then to geary (60mph) stop at a stoplight 5 blocks down.
I'm in the left lane cop pulls over in the middle and says SLOW DOWN!!! I just sit there with my tinted visor down, cop says YOU KNOW WHAT THE SPEED LIMIT ON GEARY IS, I look over and say 35, cop says 25.
I'm thinking I'm on my bike noway you gonna catch me if I take off
but didn't and made a left (don't like cops for some reason?)
I pass by the 6th ave cop station and try to pop a wheelie( I'm a squid too much judgementday)
Would you guys run knowing they can't really get you (just don't stop)
and get your high from doing it?

no gix don't run! not like that buddy. plus you see you got off anyways. you might get away a lot of time but richmond too gridlike - need twists, freeways, etc. - cops live to chase crims and that would be making it easy. and just that once things go bad - and you could fug things up permanently.
ps. your route is now in public domain. change it up time to time there plenty ways that direction.

all I know is geary street sucks
I think I can take them in to the Presidio ( know most of the roads) or GGpark (know those too) or up to twin peaks
The last speeding ticket i got was on geary for doing 40 in a 25 zone ( most of geary is 25 in richmond)
I dont really care if I get a ticket (just pay it)
just my thoughts

I don't recommend running... My friend ran only to find the cops waiting at this house.... Just because they can't catch you right away doesn't mean they can't trace your license plate #... :D :D :D

I have ran before but it all depends on the situation. If you know that they got your plate# then pull over but in my case where the cop was going the other way and had to turn around I knew he did not get my plate and I had time to speed off before he even got fully turned around. This was also a motorcycle cop but our sports can lose their big ass bikes easily.

I knew a guy that ran, but the next week he got a warrant served on him at his house. He didn't like Jail.

So as long as they can't see my plates I'm ok (just trying to be difficult)
My plates are on some strings so they flap alot when I ride (hard to read)
But I live next to a cop station (so I see them all the time)
thanks for your thoughts and I'll try not to run ( if the urge is not there)

Yeah, it's pretty tough to outrun a radio. And cops are everywhere. I would just take the small ticket - you can usually get it under $100 just by showing up in court. And they'll often let you do traffic school more than once every 18 months.
Even if you run and 9 of 10 times you shake them, that one time you get caught, you'll definitely be spending the night in jail. And even when you do get away, you never know if they got your plates. They have those video recorders now where they can just play back and pause when your plate does come into view and then you have to worry about them showing up on your doorstep a week later.
If you decide to run anyways though, good luck! :D

it's about 1am one morning and i'm leaving an unnamed city going home traveling on the freeway @ 170mph. suddenly I notice i just flew by a highway patrol in the right hand lane. I didn't see any lights.... I just kept going... not the safest thing to do...

at this point w/ no plates or registration, if i see lights, i'll have to run :rolleyes
but ya, i probably wouldn't run under normal circumstances.
though i'm pretty sure a CHP or something was trying to chase/pace me on 280N. i heard all this from my bro when he got back home following me. huh? CHP what? course i was *ahem* going just a tad over the speed limit *cough* 150mph+ indicated...*cough*

I wouldn't get into a high speed chase or anything like that but I have no problem ditching cops that are stupid. For example I'm going down the street on one wheel and I pass a cop going the opposite direction. I see the lights and make a couple of quick turns and never see him, I figure he must have been going after someone else.....Oh well! If a cop is behind me and flashes his lights I'm going to pull over though.
If they get your plates and you get a good lawyer I could also see you getting out of future problems because they never actually Identified you as the rider????? Just a thought.
