Ok all,

KrZyMaX's post got a little off track there. There was some interest in a social at Fantasia in Cupertino. So how about doing it then.

What: Social meet/greet
Where: Fantasia in Cupertino Village located on Wolf between Homestead and Pruneride. Fantasia is located the other side of Cupertino Village behind Ranch99
Time: 7ish (same time as Tuesday Starbux meets)
Who: anyone, BARFer or not.

Forecast shows sunny on Thursday (I'll probably ride then). But all know how forecasters are after yesterday, eh?

What exactly is Fantasia?

Peeps mainly go there for iced pearl tea. It's milk tea with fruit flavors (if you want) and 1/4" diameter tapioca. Some are sweet (depending what you want). They also have coffee for the coffee lovers, though not in the league of at least Starbux. :D

here's the addy

10933 north wolf road, cupertino

again, it's between homestead and pruneridge. it'll be easier to enter the lot from the wolf/pruneridge stoplight. You'll see a pub called Dukes at that corner.

Vento and I dropped by there. We had some dinner at one of the Noodle houses and then dropped by Fantasia around 7:10ish and stayed till 7:45 or so. Didn't see anybody.
We got tired of seeing the two lovebirds making out in the corner table for all to see and hearing the Chinese man banging on his guitar, so we jetted. At least the drinks were good.

Whoops. Well I'll be damned. Guess I've been spending too much of my time worrying about being laid off and which day it'll be that I got some dates crossed up. Oh well. Can't make it tonight, but have fun anyway.

Yeah, I know perfectly how you feel. Am still waiting if I have a job (etched in stone, of course) from this whole HP merger thingiee.

Do we have any other BARFer's that are HP'ers also? I'd like to hear how they're doing in their organizations.

I'm an ex-HPer. I started interning there as a soph in college. I feel like HP raised me as far as industry went. They were my first out of college employer as well of course. I ended up leaving for something more exciting but always figured on returning some day. I dunno know what Carley's done to the company. I feel as if I lost that home that I could always go back too. I never liked her ideas from day 1. I also didn't think she was as personable as Lew Platt. I remember Lew Platt would say Hi to me in the cafeteria. My co-worker and I were at Comdex, wearing HP shirts I believe. We waved to Carley as she was going somewhere and she didn't even pay attension. Not to mention she was surounded by like an entorage of like 20 people. All guys in suits, couldnt tell if they were aids, body guards or nicley dressed gigalos.

Thanks for reminding me, I need to check with some of my old friends. I know some people in NSD and I'm pretty sure they are not going to survive. I'll have to check with the other groups i knew. What division are you in?

That's it. Just one? And an ex-HP? Come HP'ers. Don't be shy. Just post your opinions or something. I won't look u up on phonewin and tell, really?

Infrandom, cool to hear you were a internn (SEED ee?, cuz I started in HR working w/ relocations). HP's a little different from what you probably would remember. Yeah, peeps at NSD aren't exactly in good shape right now. Better be ready for (group) hugs else emphatizing w/ 'em. Movement there (more like out) started at least 2-3 wks ago already. at least new policies are good and communication are better, though I think after 2 rounds of this, they had good practice.

Moi? I was in the consumer business americas (supporting the Pavilion PC and pavilion notebooks), now i'm in imaging and printing americas though I dunno what my role is yet and having a job isn't exactly etched in stone yet.

still crossing fingers here (or possibly a blessing in disguise). :D

Yep. SEED I was. My first gig was in Corperate in a Knowledge Management group. Got to work with some peeps in Corperate IT. That was fun stuff.

By my senior year, I had moved over to a support R&D lab in roseville. I never did get the support organizations org chart down. I took this position because I wanted to go to my hometown for the summer. Got to stay on with them part time during school becaue we had engineers in the business devisons workng towards adding better support/maintaince functionality into the actual products. That's how I know NSD and MCD. I sat in the new cupertino building they built for NSD. Oh man, I can't believe that building saw a few years of life and now what are they going to do with it.

For my full time job I had relocated back to Roseville, I was placed with the enterprise storage group. I havent heard if they are ok or not, to my knowledge Compaq wasn't too into the SAN arena. The only HP campus I havent spent time at in the bay area was Moutain View I think. I did the rounds. :)

Good luck with the climate over there.
