View Full Version : help the poor kid get f4i wheelies sorted
i need to be able to wheelie on the f4i, i feel dumb as sh*t not being bale to. i can do them on the monster, this is how i would do them; either clutch in at a redlight and drop it when i had the revs around 5 grand, i could get some nice 2 or 3 oclock pops but not for very long. forget about roll-on wheelies on the monster though :P
so now on the f4i maybe since its more powerful i'm a little shook. it wont roll on in 1st gear or at least i havent found a stretch of road to really learn it, city blocks seem to short. now what about pulling in the clutch and dropping it on some revs? where in the rpm range should i do it, man...
i am just shook thinking i'm going to loop it since its a higer revving faster bike.
help me :bday :bday :bday

F4i comes up super easy in First with no clutch and bounces up in second no problem. When I wheelie BTB's F4i I take it up to about 6,000 rpm, let off the gas and whack the throttle. It should come up nice and easy. Just get ready to close the throttle quick because F4i's come up quick when they get near the balance point. If you want some good practice just come ride with us!
yeah i think i want to start riding with btb or anyone that i can get some good fundamentals from(in regards to wheelies etc).
i'll keep my eye out for when you guys are doin stuff.
Jon, the F4i has more than enough balls to do wheelies in first gear.. just have to remember...baby steps. Ive seen alot of people go from half decent sit down wheelies to straight stand up wheelies , but theyre so out of control. i would not advise you to pop the clutch to get it to wheelie as this puts unnecessary strain on your motor and tranny, etc. however if you feel this method is more to your liking, then rev to about 3grand and pop it...if it doesnt come up, then go up in incriments of 500rpm..rev to about 3500 and pop and so forth untill you find that sweet spot in the rpm range that allows you to bring the front end up in a fairly controlled way. remember that with clutch wheelies, when you pop it, the clutch is actually slighly slipping untill it catches...when it catches you have to feel for it and ease off the throttle slightly otherwise you will go over backward. you can tell when it catches because the bike becomes very responsive to every lil throttle input. it is not very responsive during the intial launch and will feel very "clammy/sluggish". Id suggest that you read my sit downwheelie HOW -TO but unfortunately i dont know where the hell its at. LOL! I hope this is helpful to you.
( practice makes perfect, and be prepared to shell out some money to rebuild your shocks by the time you've actually mastered the art of wheelies cuz you would have abused the shit out of them during the learning process)
cool thanks ken :) i think in the past i have read that how to, but that was when i had the monster so it was pretty irelevant.
i am going to go out today, i get off work at 315, and i will be out there trying roll-ons, up to 6k let it close then wack it back open :) we'll see what happens :chuci

Hey still I have an f4i with a sprocket but I find putting at about 20 to 24 mph quick split second acceleration until you feel the bikes ass drop then release and give it about 3/4 throttle pulls it up no prob. I can vouch for the fact that it takes a hell of a lot of practice though. I have tried honestly 5 days a week for months to finally get my balance point and even then I only hit it 7 out of 10 times.
