This morning I noticed that from one of the overflow tubes running from my bike there was a greenish fluid dripping out. Although it may not be normal, there is normally some oil that drips out. But this time there was some greenish fluid with it.

I touched the fluid and the greenish stuff scraped out like it was "fat" from a hamburger dripping.:( That would be my best description. :laughing

My first guess was that it was radiator fluid in the motor. After riding the bike this morning there is no fluid drip. Weird? I didnt do anything much different yesterday prior to shutting her down other then a block long wheelie. But why should that be cause?

Thanks folks,

Can you trace back the tube to wherever it goes?

The only thing I can think of that's green is ethylene glycol coolant (anti-freeze).

Mine also used to weeps a little- especially if I overfilled the radiators with the bike on the side stand.

My suggestions are-

track back the breather to see if it does do to the radiator- usually the side of the filler cap.

check the coolant level with the bike on the centre stand or a workstand- but level.

next service (or whenever) replace the coolant with a mix of antifreeze and distilled or demineralised water OR even better in my opinion a mix of distilled / demineralised water and redline's product called 'water wetter'.

Like andrew suggested, back track the tube to where it comes from. If it is the little tube coming from the airbox and the airfilter oil is green, then it is just the airfilter dripping since it is probably saturated with oil.

If not it could be bad news...

I knew a girl that had a problem like that. I quit hanging out with her.

the coolant overflow tube is between the motor and the skid plate. maybe that's where it came from.

Hello,

I drained the oil and it came out clean. Well, at least without and discoloration other then being dirty.

I also followed the tube and it went to the top of the motor. The valve cover I suppose. Whats up with that?

Miguel-

It's relatively common to get oil forced out of the engine breathers if the oil level is too high. Was yours OK?

Weird that it was green though :confused

Yeah... to tell you the truth I am alittle bummed about this incident. Even though it isnt doing it anymore it did happen and I am sort of freaked.

It wasnt just water or coolant mixed in with the blow-by. It was some strange stuff that coagulated on top of the oil when it pooled. And another thing... I never pool oil!

Well, I will monitor it and advise more later. In the meantime I am riding the Honda TransAlp V-Twin. What a cushy machine that thing is.
