View Full Version : July 9th Trackday Thunderhill - CanyonStrafers
Hey guys,
I think its great that more and more people are getting exposed to riding the track.
We just hosted our June 4th trackday and everyone that showed up had a blast. We had 3 mishaps in the morning but the afternoon was black flag free with MAXIMUM track time!
The only BARF members I personally know who were there were myself and GixxerSinh. It was his first trackday and earned the nickname IronMan. The temperature hovered near 100 the whole day and GixxerSinh was out there doing more laps than anyone! I would do 3-5 and have to come in cause I was getting heat exhaustion. GixxerSinh would stay out for 10+ laps! Damn! I don't know how he did it! Mr. Endurance! I'm sure his wife likes that fact! ;)
Anyways, we are hosting another trackday 1 day before Speedyards, on July 9th. For those of you who may have the time and money, this would be a great time to do back to back trackdays! 2 trackdays in a row would be awesome!! We do not run sessions so I would advise that you have a few trackdays under your belt.
Here are the details.

Welcome to the board Steve! Glad you finally made it over.
Well you already know I'm in...let's see if we can get some BARFers out to your track day :teeth
Steve is collecting the funds only. Not sure if he is a member of Barf yet.

Jel, I'd like to go, but I haven't been to that track yet. I've been to Laguna and Botton Willow and my skills I would rate my self a 6 from 1 to 10. I know I wont be very fast the first half but
I will pickup. The track days that I've been to had rules, like no passing on the inside. And I only rode in the B class. So base on what I said, do you think I'd be ok for this trackday?
If you've been to BW and Laguna already then I think you'll be fine at TH.
Shoot me an email and I'll get you the details or just check out the website.
Hope to see you there!

When I first logged into this board everyone was flipping me off left and right I was thinking "WTF are these guys flipping me off for?"
Then I realized it was the traditional BARF greeting :D
Hope you didnt take that in the wrong context...
I dont want to get stuffed into turn 11 or something...:)

Yeah getting stuffed into turn 5 (if you can call that a turn...more like a mountain with a cliff) would not be a good thing :) I still take it baby-speed through there...tough turn to conquer.

it was a blast!!! weather was perfect...
only thing that would make it better was if it was a CS day...not that i don't like keigwin's days...it's just that with all the CS guys...i feel more at home...like with all my friends... :)
would be awesome if you, joel, ricky, marv, and the rest of the guys were there along with ryan, dave, glen, arn, clayton, and i... :)

I'm just going to vouch for Canyonstrafers. I did 2 (my only 2) trackdays at T-Hill with them last year and it was awesome. The Open Format rules!!! and you get plenty of Track Time. I look forward to doing more Canyonstrafer trackdays later this year.
BTW, for those who haven't been to Thunderhill, it's an awesome track. Easy to learn but very hard to go super fast on. Take a lot of commitment. The entry speeds on some of the corners are ridiculously high.

I signed up a while ago, didnt post cuz Jimil posted for me. July 9th is going to be a little different. The main difference is track police (not actual cops!), guys in reflective vests, they will make sure everyone is safe. They will also be there to give tips on lines, technique...etc. It will be like the club desmo police guys. Its still open format. Riders limited to 35-45. Dont want it to crowded so hurry and sign up!! SPots filling up fast!

I'm thinking about signing up. I only have Ballistic type pants and a leather jacket which don't zip together. Is this allow on this trackday?

Well I cant speak for Speedy or Jel...but my guess would be no...and I surely wouldnt recommend it for your own safety's sake. Do you know anyone that has a suit you can borrow?
I think Kneedraggers has a suit rental service if Im not mistaken...that might be worth checking out.

You will need 1 or 2 piece leathers. If your leathers are 2 piece they must zip together. Ballistic nylon suits (like Aerostich) are allowed provided they follow the same requirements as the leathers. You will also need a DOT approved FULL FACE helmet, gloves, and over the ankle boots. A back protector is a BIG plus.
