just curious what size/ model heavier rear shock spring did you put on and where did you get it?

MadKawJERM
08-04-2003, 11:52 AM
don't know or remember the spring rate... just that its heavier (stiffer). dont remember the price. sorry.

But you can buy a whole bike, rather than a spring. :teeth

bummer, well, I already have a 2000.5 RSV-R (thanks for the offer) but I am having a hard time finding a place that can help with the spring rate. I started this quest by going to the Livermore Aprilia dealer who just got a dumb look on their face and said "we don't even know what rate is on there from the factory" and "we just sell bikes"

You might try asking around at www.apriliaforum.com

thunderex

or go to scuderia. they've ordered new fork and shock springs for me. it's not rocket science. just figure out how much someone weighs and go from there.

Not the stock stuff of course but the other bodywork...

Yeah, try the apriliaforum.com

But I believe stock on the rear is like a 13.5 or 14.0 spring. The front forks are 1.0's just in case.

Either way, if you look at the your spring, it should say in black writing what spring rate it is.

good luck, see you on the other forum ;)

a thosand dollars for the race body work? hmmm i might consider that... but still I would rather have it as a bonus for buying the bike....

reply to earlier post:
If you really want me to find out the spring rate i used... I will find out for you.

ANY TAKERS FOR THE BIKE? IS THE PRICE FAIR? ANYONE SLIGHTLY INTERESTED? WE CAN TALK...

MadKawJERM
08-14-2003, 07:35 PM
is there a future owner in the house?

MadKawJERM
09-03-2003, 11:29 AM
Surprise Surprise!!! YES the bike is still for sale.

There has to be someone interested in this awsome motorcycle!

What would be fair market value for this bike?

ThunderChicken
09-03-2003, 11:31 AM
6000 or 7000? (I am not interested). Perhaps people are more inclined towards the RC or the 996, although the mags like the Aprillia more than the RC but less than the 996 (of course :) )

MadKawJERM
09-03-2003, 02:35 PM
6000? for a mille R?

blue book is 10,890.... wholesale is 8250...

I think somewhere in between is fair... ya? I dont know...

SOMEONE MAKE AN OFFER... I might take it.

ThunderChicken

I have no idea ... i just saw another 2001 for that (but i think that it had been dumped and had some rash etc). Too much of a bike for me.

You might get hunted down if you sell it for that ridiculously low price. '00 RSV's sell for $8k - you have an RSV-R! Give it time, advertise in Cycletrader, AF, maybe even ebay.

MadKawJERM:
Do you have any pictures of the bike, I'm looking at running a V-twin class next year; this just might fit the bill.

Thanks!

88/750 they already did, sorta', last year on comp claim. I've since purchased a sweet original '00 rsv (r.o.w. '99).

this bike here is a deal. I paid $12,500 for my '01 RSVR last year fwiw. used. and it was worth every penny! you'll know it when you ride one.

Too Much bike? this isnt a gixxer1k. typically the mille's have about 10-15 more hp than an F4i. This bike is very responsive and I beleive easy to get used to. The suspension on this bike feels like heaven! you should take a good look at a mille R, they are awesome bikes.

By the way: This bike will be at Hayward Kawasaki sept. 6 for the Curve Unit party.

Oh! and even more tempting information... I CAN FINANCE YOU!!!

Why don't you list the bike on Ebay? I sold my Aprilia Falco to a guy up in Oregon, ended up selling it for $5400 (he got a great deal) - (http://www.thenextidea.net/forsale/apriliasl1000.htm). The bike was awesome and now I find myself looking hard at the '04 Milles. Unfortunately people are not willing to take a chance and end up getting a bike because "my buddies got one". I wish you the best of luck.

MadKawJERM

yeah I hear ya man... I love this motorcycle so much, I have never had such a motorcycle that worked so well. My whole thing is... I work at a motorcycle dealership... and I dont keep my bikes very long... I've had this one a year and a half. thats a long time for me. I understand the price premium on this motorcycle, but people ask the question - is it worth it? of course it is. its like a totally reliable version of a ducati :teeth

ThunderChicken;

996 duc has 105 RWHP (never ever a match for RC) :laughing ...
so...give me a break man..

so, no mag would say its better even as joke.
998 has 112 rwhp so that ..may be.
Rc51 02 ++ has 127 RWHP ++.
Mille R 02+ 120 RWHP.

Since i own both, my first hand experience is :

RC is more stable bike than Duc998..(just look at Edwards or Hayden or Tamada and how steady they are compared to Duc riders).

Duc 998 is more flickable and smaller.

Look at Haga (Mille R)..he is all over trying to keep the bike in one piece! (collin Edwards confessed to that after switching to Rc211)
:teeth

Sport Rider Trio review of all 3 (MIlle, 998 and 999, Rc51)
picked Rc51 both 2003 and 2002 !

But some other on line reviews picked Mille R (hell, if you put Ohlins and Mag wheels on my Scooter it will be faster too!).

Last and not least, Rc51 won more championships (AMA,SBK,Suzuka,etc...) than any SBK in history in 3 years of its life (2000-2002) :cool

All 3 are great bikes.
BUT, magazines are paid by advertisers and promos often ...
:p

Its the results and what you enjoy riding that count finally, rest is PURE HYPE and BS.
