hi folks,

i posted one other stuff on this board and got tremendous support. needless to say i'm back with another one.

i have a 94 zx7 with a bad motor and just saw an ad for 96zx7r engine for sale. the question is; will this engine fit my frame and what type of modifications is required if any?

please help a newbie...i would love to get this bike running before summer ends.

thanks a bunch!

Jose,

The 96 motor will go in the same as a 93-95 ZX9 motor. Lower motor mounts fit right in, and the Top motor mounts just need to be drilled out. No spacers or adaptors required.
I hope your getting that motor super cheap or else I'd start looking around the net for a decent ZX9 motor. Will make a Huge difference.

Also, I would highly recommend hitting up the ZX7RR group in yahoogroups. They may have a 7 motor available or might also have a lead on a 9 motor as well.

Lastly, you should introduce yourself in the Newbie forum. Just some BARF preliminaries we all had to go through.

Later,
Ron

Thanks Ron! I truly appreciate your feedback...

and yes, I will make sure to hit up the Newbie forum for an intro to the BARF community.

Thanks again,
Jose
