Mod appreciation..

In light of my challenge of rsrai. I understand that mods do a lot around here, and most of it does in fact go unnoticed. All we see is what is presented in the public forum. Mr. Airborn is barely ever around. JTT posts everywhere. rsrai, one, two line things that aren't worth the time. Budman, well thought out clear, amusing posts. See where I'm going, these could be perceptions that some people might have. Maybe mine, maybe others..

Would it be possible to open up the modforum for a week to read only status for the public to actually see what is going on in the behind the scenes at barf? Call it an E! True Hollywood Story: Barf.

I remember seeing TheSteveCo say anything can be done... ;)

I'd have to say no. If your suggestion implies allowing the board at large to view (even in read only) the mod forum for a specified period of time, it would 1. probably not be representative of what actually goes on in the mod forum, and 2. would most likely make public discussions and implementation plans for a variety of things that may not be appropriate for the membership at large (ie. either sensitive material that may or not involve specific members of the board, or tentative plans for the board.)

Dave, you are a smart fella, I am sure you can think of a hundred different reasons why this would not be beneficial.

If the reason for this is to promote mod apprecaition, we already accept the fact that it is a, for the most part, thankless job, and we are happy to do it because of what BARF means to each and every one of us.

Agreed. It would be impossible to go through all the past threads in there and not find one that shouldn't be seen by the general public.

But to give you an idea of what goes on, here are the last 20 or so threads. (Edited and short description added) Hopefully this will show some of you that mods are not power mongers who go around throwing points this way and that unchecked.

Read only view of the mod forum is extremely easy. Just use the access masks. However things we discus really dont belong in the public view. "how many times does this person get away with this before we ban them", JTT is a homo, etc. One thing I dont understand however, is why are we on trial. I am not on any BARF payroll this is all volinteer. So even if I did do absoutely nothing while JTT lived his life to boss people around on BARF, dosn't matter. Does it?

But the Mod's forum is more than just a place to talk about you all. (which we do) but a place to share personal stuff with each other. and some of it we don't want shared with you all, so.... NO MOD FORUM FOR YOU!
