don't know about all of you, but the last trackday i did, i barely had enough stamina to do all the sessions. i've been doing about 20mins on the treadmill and 30 mins of freeweights 4 days a week and have lost about 7lbs. that's about 1 horsepower increase baby! anybody else doing any training for upcoming trackdays or just workout in general?
I just go ride my bike for ten hours. Go riding with bike friends or riding with car friends. go up north to clearlake or out east to livermore. the last trackday i only got 214miles, my goal is 300miles. Oh make sure you practice breathing

i should ride my mountain bike more.
also, i didn't have good mental stamina at the end of the day. it was real hard focusing on reference points, lines, etc.

I work out my back, abs, triceps, shoulders and forearms for motorcycles.
It helps a lot to have strength and endurance in your legs, since you will be shifting weight side to side all the time.
I really like the Stairmaster and treadmill. 30mins. on stairmaster and 15 of running keeps the legs strong and theynever get tired from a trackday or all day backroads adventure.
I hope this doesn't turn into some flame fest. :laughing

I doubt it - that's great info. :cool

Exercise is always good for stamina...and that surely helps for the track. Grip and forearm exercise especially.
More so in this California heat...its important to stay hydrated. I try and get used to drinking a lot of water and liquids especially a few days before the event.
A good nights rest and mental awareness, to me, are key. No crack smoking at least two days before the track day! :twofinger

Jeeez, I'll do 400-500 mile days on my R1, but I get to the track and I'm out of it by lunch :(

Work out?? Hell yes. I teach a Karate style aerobics class 3 days a week. I weight train in an Aerobic pyramid style 2 or 3 days a week. I have been doing aerobics for 20 years..since my Motocross racing days.. it really paid off when I switched to road racing..the longer the race the better I would do as people started to poop out..it really showed at the Nationals..I beat fellow AFM'rs that I never got close too..Rode in many endurance races and usually 1 Hr. shifts..I would go as fast on the second lap as the last..all within a Sec or 2 or the same time or the entire stint. I studied Martal Arts for 10 years before I started motocross racing and the tumbling and stretching aspect of that training I feel were a key to staying healthy when falling off. Hell I can still do the splits at 44 and being limber is a huge advantage. Spent many an hour on the stationary bike or in the pool as a rehab boy and while I don't like to swim it is a great way to get in shape ;) I imagine I will end up doing it again as my knee (2 Surgeries) is slowly fading and a degenerative disk in my back is a nusance as well..motocross and football beat the bod up pretty badley. I am afraid if I stopped exercising I would fall apart like the Liquid squid in Terminator 2 :laughing
I agree with Robert about doing some extra focusing on your forearms..mucho reps..Pump 'em up so they can handle the large blood flows req'd to stay aggressive on the track for longer periods of time. The Older and wiser guy says go do it!
It will pay off in all aspects of your life...
My two cents ( more like 2 bucks..)

:laughing good one,
I like indoor rock climbing (planet granite) great for forearm strength, & legs, it also works the whole body & builds stamina,
at work I use one of those stress ball thingies, I got it from REI, it's the black one that weighs a pound,
I've got big balls, o I've got big balls, but they're not the only balls of them all (ac/dc) :D

For me it's my legs.
Take a look at me in action... (http://www.photoliciousphotography.com/albums/album70/roll_23_frame_29.sized.jpg)
All my weight in on the inside leg of the turn. Man, does that wear out fast since my butt is almost never plonked down in the seat. Especially at Thunderhill with all those freakin' left turns.
The stairmaster is a critical exercise, and I've found that my old speedskating training helps out too (go skate Canada Road between 92 and Edgewood a couple of times a day). The skating really seems to help out the right muscles.
Fore arms? Who needs 'em! I crack my testicles up against the tank to hold me on under hard braking. Ouch! :green

One important thing that was missed was to have a relaxed body. If you're riding around all tense, you are tightening, flexing you're muscles way to much. How do your arms feel after a good arm work out? How is your energy level? It helps to be in shape, but it doesn't help to be doing a body building posing routine while you're on the track.:superhawk

You want to make sure you are replenishing your body throughout the day. It almost sounds like your blood sugar level fell through the floor, and that can get danderous. Especially on a bike.

you're probably right. i didn't eat much throughout the day other than lunch. i drank a lot of water though. i also could have used more sleep but i was so excited about the upcoming trackday that i couldn't sleep very well.

Yep that probably was your main problem them. You have to eat, drink, eat, drink, eat, drink, well you get the idea. :cool
