Me and WickedWahine will be attending DP safety in August but we'll be at Sear Point. Are you going to be there too?

Nope...In my older years I have decided to stay away from Sears Point..to many damn walls to hit..(I hit one before :cry )
I love the track, but I have been down on it 3 times and just don't need the Extra risk involved for Sears as compared to T-Hill or Laguna..I will be going to a Go Kart school at Sears in August..Looking forward to that for sure..
Please have fun, but be carefull...:teeth

Well, I don't anticipate my group (C) to be let loose just like the A and B groups.
BTW, any last minute advise you can give...what to look for in the track, what to bring, what to wear...anything? :teeth
Can you tell this would be our first trackday?:laughing We can't wait for August to come...we're just pumped!
Hello Yoda and Wicked! Glad you two are doing a trackday! I guess if you are doing the DP school please just remember to ask plenty of questions. I have heard they are not too keen on helping people as much as it is just an open trackday. Although I have not been to the school I will say that after this school I would go to Star or even a code school to get better hands on experience. You could also come to our events, we run two groups at 30minute sessions each. One advanced group (mostly AMA,AFM people) and a beginner/intermediate group (we have people monitoring and coaching)
We are having a novice day on July 10th at Thunderhill. Doc Wong and I will be instructing for the day. I would encourage you to come and see how things work and what people do at a track event. We do not do drills but we do have talks and monitor people around the track.
I think Vixen will be up there and maybe some other people so please join us if you can.
Best wishes
Deb and Ed

to wear: full gear
incl. full faced lid, gautlet type gloves w/ armor, 1 or 2pc (full circumference zipper) leather or aerostich suit, riding boots (preferably sports or race boots since they offer more armor and protection). you can never have enough armor.
to bring: plenty of water and/or fluids (ex. gatorade). preferably in a cooler w/ ice. if you're going out in sessions, you should be drinking something after each session to stay hydrated. have something w/ carbs (bread, pasta, etc) in it for lunch since it burns quickly and gives you quick energy vs. protein which takes longer to break down. energy bars are great as well. a tent or canopy to stay away from the sun. fold out chairs to sit on. sunblock cause the summer is going to be blazing hot. basic tools, chain lube, stuff to prep your bike if you have not done so the night before.
to prepare: try to workout as much as you can beforehand. light weights and tons of cardio to get your endurance up. leg, shoulder and forearm excercises will help. get plenty of sleep the night before, preferably at a nearby hotel or someplace comfortable in your car. driving to the track just tires you out though not too bad if you've had plenty of sleep and maybe a driving partner.
bike prep: if the DP school provides you w/ bike, no need to prep, but if you're bringing your own: nice fairly fresh tires, tape up and disconnect lights and turn signals, water wetter in place of coolant preferred (sometimes required) check chain slack, tire pressure, brake wear, etc, safety wire oil drain plug, brake calipers, etc (sometimes required though rarely if you're in street level).

Thank you very much for the advise. That's exactly what I'm looking for...actually, you gave me more than I expected. :teeth

One reason why we chose DP was because we've heard good things about them from riders who took their class. Actually, majority of them took the next class. With that being said, as you and I know, opinions vary in most cases. That's why I give everyone the benefit of the doubt. Our intention is to learn from as much school as possible and decide who we would like to keep learning from.
BTW, we're very interested with your July 10th trackday but your website states that it's close. Please let me know if there's still 2 available spot. If we do attend, what's the best way to transport the bike? Should we ride or trailer them? How do we set the bike up? Mirrors/Headlight taped...stuff like that.
Well...we'll be attending Doc Wong's Basic Suspension Workshop this Friday...so I'll get more details from him. Thanx again for the advise.

July 16th and August 29..I Know the A group is full for July and I assume August is too...Check out the Schedule at
www.dpsafetyschool.com I usually don't run November thru March because of potential sketchy weather... but I might make an exception this year since I had two April dates fugged up from rain.. check it out :teeth

Very sorry if I offended anyone by the way of DP. It has been told to me on many occassions that it is a trackday more than anything else BUT I have been known to be wrong. I wish everyone who atteneds any trackday event all the best and to share their experiences.
Once again, very sorry for any offense.
As for our July 10th event, yes it is closed but if you would like to come out and watch please just mail me and we will put you of as a guest. Thank you again

Hey WEI ..no offense here for sure..DP does offer school for the new riders C group with in the classroom info and on track lead and follow to... a few braking drills in parking lot and all...Not a bad deal for the first timer..
B and A group are essentially open track , but you can sign up with one of there fine instructors for some one on one.
They do have some good instructors..like
Chuck Sorenson, Donny Green, Dave Emde, Chris Steward ...etc.
I will get ot one your track days soon I have no doubt. :teeth
