As most of you know, November 1st (3 weeks from tomorrow) will mark the one year anniversary of Joey's passing. I wanted to do something special, and Joey's closest friends and I have decided to do a memorial ride. Both cars and bikes are welcome and we will be riding through Bear Creek and up to The Wall. I'm renting a helium tank and getting lots of balloons that we can write messages on and then release them once we're at the Wall. It was Joey's favorite spot and I think a very fitting place to celebrate his life.

It would mean so much to me to have as large a showing as possible, so if you could save that date, I would be truly grateful.

After the ride, for anyone interested, we will be having a candlelight vigil at the accident site, since the cemetery closes at dusk.

Time has yet to be determined, but I will post it as soon as we figure out what works best for everyone.

Thank you in advance,
Lori

Dear Lori:

I have created a calendar entry for this on the barf calendar:
http://www.bayarearidersforum.com/forums/calendar.php?s=&action=getinfo&eventid=327

It links back to this thread so keep it updated with any pertinent info as the event nears.

I didn't know your son but am sure we would have been friends if had the chance to meet. I will try my best to make it up to the wall with you all that day. I wish you peace in your heart and to know that Joey is resting peacefully as well.

Let me know if there's anything I can do for you.

Sincerely,
Phil / max smiley

ps. SF peeps who's up for the group ride!

Thank you so much..........from the bottom of my heart. I will definitely let everyone know the meeting place and the time as soon as we've got it figured out.

As of right now, we'll be meeting at the cemetery at 2:00 and then we'll go on the ride from there. It's Oakmont Memorial Park in Lafayette.

Take the PLEASANT HILL ROAD NORTH exit off of 24. Stay in the left hand lane and it turns into TAYLOR BLVD.

Turn LEFT onto GRAYSON RD and it ends up directly at the cemetery. You can't miss is.

Once inside the gates of the cemetery, go up the hill, pass the office and then take the first left and keep following it to the left until you get to the farthest point of the cemetery. You'll see a road blocked off once you get there. Just park and you'll see everyone on the hill to the right of the road (as you're facing the blocked off road)

Hope to see everyone there.

I had planned on doing a all girl ride that day, but this seems a little more important. Count 2 riders joining the group.

Best wishes for a good heart warming event although I am sure some tears of Love will show up too.

I will also try to make it. Anyone want to get a group ride from San Jo area going?

Max..nice note man.:thumpup

I will try to make this one.
Anyone want to do a group ride from Sonoma County?
If you haven't ridden the east bay you are missing out.
Muddy
PS: Is there a route plan from the meeting spot yet?
The old golf coure was across from there correct?

Lori,

I have added the ride to our Events calendar as well to help get the word out. What a wonderful way to honor Joey's memory.

We'll be riding through Bear Creek Road and up to the Wall in the Berkeley Hills. Those were Joey's favorite spots. If you haven't been to the Wall, the view from there is spectacular. It should be a nice ride........especially enjoyable for those who have never ridden those roads before.

As far as an old golf course, I'm not aware of that, but that doesn't mean it wasn't there.

So, is the meeting time at 2pm at the cemetary? Just want to make sure:)

Yes, it will be 2:00 at the cemetery. I figure we'll probably leave for the ride around 2:30 or 3:00. Everyone that's coming should be there by then.

Again..........I thank you and I look forward to meeting all of you so I can actually thank you in person.

Lori

Count in another from Sonoma county. I'll follow you down Muddy.

I just can't say thank you enough to all of you. I will personally thank each and every one of you when I see you Saturday.

Ride safely,
Lori

Just want everyone to know that we will still have the memorial ride on Saturday............RAIN OR SHINE. Hopefully, the weather man's rain prediction was wrong. It certainly wouldn't be the first time !!!
