I looked at the bike photo threads in the Photos section and they were all sportbikes. So, I figured I would create a thread so that people would be able to post pictures of thier cruisers.

Here's mine.

Leathers yes we have them and do wear them for longer rides...say more than a mile :teeth

And yes we wear half helmets..but the real kind ARAI. Not the normal brain buckets.

This is my cruiser, street monster. An old 1977 Kawasaki KZ1000. Its been fully restored, with 14k on the clock. PM disc brakes, and a collection of custom parts makes this a 1 of a kind bike. Every part was either painted, chromed or powder coated. It took a good 2 years to complete.

Guys
I love my KZ1000 so much I had to just share this one more shot.
Notice how much smaller the front wheel is compared to the back, that was off a later model LTD650 and the headlight is off of a European version of the KZ. The front brake really shines at this angle too. All she needs now is electronic ignition. Yup, it still has points!!!:laughing

So, I took 20 years off from riding to do the family/kids thing - last July I decided it was time to get back in the saddle and bought this Shadow ACE 750.
It's been a great bike and I jsut turned 12,000 miles

Makes sense to me too. Everyday I feel like putting the Vulcan in the want adds and then I stop myself to ask why...

different bikes = different type of riding

Plus the cruiser get's almost 50mpg and almost 14000 miles on a set of tires. It works for me because I use it to commute on 100+ miles a day. I save the weekends for canyon carving on the sportbike.

:laughing the crank alone weighs 45lbs on those. America wanted BIG so Honda gave it to them :nerd

Now the Rune is another story. I like the fact it was a prototype that made production even though it's gonna be in limited in numbers ala RC30, RC45 etc (and priced as such :laughing)

The single sided swing arm is bling bling too.

I love the aero - it's probably one of the best looking cruisers honda has done - too bad they didn't just put the VTX 1300 motor into that bike instead of changing it completely.
New VTX isn't nearly as good looking as the aero

I had a thunder header on my bike but got a ticket and took it off. I got the header up for sale if you know anyone that wants one. I was heading up Sutter St and the cop heard me coming! Gave me a ticket for speeding but didn't have a speed on me. Just the sound. Not as much torque with the single pipes. I want to get a supertrapp 2-1 and just take some of the discs out.

BensMCwWarehous
03-15-2004, 01:32 PM
Rates depend on the model. I try and keep my rates near what most rentals agencies rent for in the area. I have to add, although our cost of living is higher, and the customer more demanding, competition for business make rates here lower than most all areas around the country.

Depending on the model, the rates are $135.00. $150.00, and $170.00 per day. I have a three day discount of 10% and weekly discount of 15%. Currently insurance is $19.00 per day. If your insurance covers motorcycle rentals, then you don't have to insure the bike through my source. In any case, I do require a damage deposit (via credit card only) of $1,000.00.

Should you like more information (including bike pictures and pictures of the Santa Cruz Mountains areas,) then you may visit my website at www.vtwinrentals.com, or give me a call and I would be happy to talk riding. :)

WG == 'Wide Glide' ??

Yeah, the Wide Glide is what I wanted !
Naive me, when I went to my local Harley dealer I was surprised to learn that I had to get in line and wait. Not wanting to do that I bought a left-over Honda Shadow instead (which is, quite frankly a Wide Glide style rip-off). To complete the package, I changed out the stock low-rise bars for some mid-height ape hangers (like the ones on the Wide Glide). IMHO, the apes on the Wide Glide don't look quite right because they're set too low on the triple clamp.. the riser height on the Shadow make the bars look right. I would've gone for more extremely raised handlebars but I didn't want to change any of the hoses or wiring.

-Meguiar's Gold Class Shampoo
-Meguiar's Hot Wheels spray on everything chromed (stuff works great!) as a pre-treater.
-Meguiar's NXT Tech Paste Wax, has light cleaners to remove minor swirls and scratches; 1 coat by hand. I plan to add another coat or two with my Porter Cable 7336 orbital polisher. I still have some light swirling.
-Buffed wax off with Costco Microfiber towels, and Meguiar's NXT Speed Detailer.

Enjoy!

Those Warrior pics look awesome. I'm espcially attracted to the Midnight edition with the blacked-out engine. How does she ride?

Don't tell anyone, but I've been thinking of getting myself a cruiser. I wouldn't want to start with something as big as a Warrior but I definitely think I'm a closeted cruiser rider. :shhh

Sakio

Thanks for the comments. The Warrior is a great riding and handling (for a cruiser) bike. I tested the VTX 1800F and the Triumph Rocket III at the same time and the Warrior came out on top because it seemed the nimblest. Although the Rocket III did kick butt when you twist the throttle.

The one thing about the Warrior that is a little different is the handlebar position. It's not as far back as the other cruisers, but the foot position is just like the other cruisers so you get this weird "parachute" effect when you're on the highway. The mini-fairing (which I just got) makes a huge difference. at 80 mph, it's worth it's weight in gold.

As for the lower cowls (which I just put on too) seems to redirect the heat from the lower part of the engine to the foot. I'm sure that's great on cold days, but I'm not so sure if I like it very much.

One thing, the Warrior will lock up it's rear brakes at a drop of a hat. It is so sensitive. Make sure to use the front brakes strongly (which is probably basic stuff for MC's anyway).

This is certainly different from the Ducati ST4 that I owned before, but I am loving it.

Oh, one last thing--how about the sound? I'm thinking the stock can isn't too loud, but it must sound sweet. A lot of people complain about the stock can for various reasons (it's too big, etc.). Personally, I think it kind of goes with the Warrior's style.

It reminds me a lot of the can on the Moto Guzzi Griso:

I've been waiting for that bike to come to the US. I like the Breva a lot, but that Griso is something else.

As for the sound from the massive can, it is pretty mellow. I like the can, but if and when I move up to the Stage 4 kit, I'd have to remove it and replace it with a different exhaust system.

I am currently trying find out from Yamaha if I can actually remove the baffles on the after market pieces so I can take the chrome and turn it into black chrome to match the bike. Yamaha specifically states in the catalog that the baffles can't be removed.

Nice V-Rod. I guess new for 06 is the sportier version of the V-Rod? I checked out the HD web site and they no longer have the original V-Rod. I wonder what happened?

I'm thinking we have enough folks in here to probably have a cruiser-friendly ride. What do you guys think?

I don't have cruiser myself, but I'm really thinking about getting one in the future.

DST

The 06 streetrod got released early, who knows why. All the new changes in the lineup should be revealed before the end of July.

Someone posted in the V-Rodforums website that the next V-Rod is currently being called 'Python' and does 9 second quarter miles.

I call BS on that one though...

As far as the original V-Rod, the word is that the VRSCA is still around but the VRSCB is gone. No big deal though, there were only minor differences. The two big ones being that the A's all had silver frames and more chrome while the B's had black frames and mostly brushed aluminum and were about 1k cheaper. The A's should have multiple frame color options, including black this year they say...so basically they just said goodbye to the brushed aluminum option.

EDIT: I just double checked the HD site and the VRSCA and VRSCB are still there.

YET ANOTHER EDIT: Definitely down for that cruiser ride - any time, just about anywhere.

I heard that the '05's were much smoother than the older models. How do you like it?

brichter
07-22-2005, 10:53 PM
Like Buttah.

The only time you feel the vibe is at idle and a little in the pegs between 2800-3200 rpm.

Pulled like a truck from just off idle up to 4500 stock, with the air cleaner, pipes and rejet it pulls hard almost to the rev limiter (5700). Not sure yet if it's running out of fuel (lean), or needs exhaust or cams to get past 6k. :teeth

I've also done Progressive shocks in the rear, and their springs plus a little heavier oil in the front. Necessary investment, as I weigh over 225.

Best part: I've had 2 knee surgeries due to soccer injuries in the past 1.5 years, and I can ride all day without pain. My friend has an F4, it only took 15 minutes to make me want to park it.

I may buy another sprotbile in a year or 2, but I'm not going to sell this one.

she lost 59 LBS, in the "transformation", and no, she's very "not stock", although the stock virago's are supposed to run 12:70 something, so they are plenty torquey in stock trim, but theres so much saddlebag, sissybar, HYOOOGE heavy exhaust, yada, yada, they have a hard time getting up to speed.
I also did a tapered steering head bearing kit, progressive front springs, and EBC green stuff pads.
getting the progressive rear shocks ($350 OUCH!), and probably make some new front and rear fenders out of carbon fiber (but paint em, so ya can't tell, just LIGHT!), but thats a LONG way off
