it was a tour, 1200+ miles in 2 days. and it was sporty. so i guess it was sport touring, right? looking back i find it a little amusing that i did it. hope you do too.
sorry for the image quality, it was a disposable 'panorama' printed at the drugstore. bad then, and already fading a bit before i scanned them.
in may 2001 i bought a 1998 916 over the internet from a guy in phoenix arizona, and rode it home. here it is in sedona...

the southern passes were still closed, but sonora was open. this one is part way up the eastern slope of 108.

:wow Great Stuff! Let me see if I got that right? You did 1200 miles in two day on a 916? Isn't the nickname for that bike the 'Torture Rack'? Pics look great despite being a little blurry- Panoramics are great when travelling. Any more? Done trips since? :thumbup

yeah phoenix to san francisco in two days on a stock ducati superbike. and not exactly the shortest route possible either. that little tank bag was the extent of my "gear".
the 916 is a track-only bike now, but i often do 500+ mile one day rides on the SuperSport. SF-Santa Barbara-SF along the coast. or SF-Red Bluff-Eureka-SF. here are two pages i made for my SO who lives back east so she could associate images with my stories...

yesterday i was up in the sierras again on my "real" ST...
