NorCalBusa posted a ride in planning stages called "Tin Butt".

It's NorCalBusa idea, it's ready made. It hasn't happened.
Sport Tour group could organize it for one of these weekends. Post in group ride, make a big deal about it, everyone invited.
Would help prevent Cabin Fever :D

how far? i can do 450 mile days, any longer then that on my bike can get painful.

its more a measure of time then anything. i can sit on my bike for 8 hours without a problem, 9 is ok, 10+ gets hard.

tell me when u want to, and how far, and i'll let u know.

NorCalBusa has the route at 350 miles.
:D there'lll be a R1 in the group no doubt. That means breaks every 100 miles(Gas stops) :D
Think right now see how many ST ppl want to organize it. Have 2 so far :D

Hm, I'm in!

Though me, as a cheapskate, would recommend reversing the route to save $7 each time around -- $5 southbound at the Golden Gate, and $2 northbound at the Benecia.

I'm interested in doing a nice, long, scenic run. It all depends on the date. Any idea?

When ?

Depends on Weather mostly. There's no forecasts for 2 weeks out. This weekend looks Cloudy is all.

This weekend has the SF parking rally Friday at noon.
SC mountains ride on Saturday that'll likely be posted soon.
Next Tuesday is Thankgiving, Holiday travel plans would be this weekend.

This Weekend's weather
Friday Showers
Saturday Mostly Cloudy
Sunday Cloudy
Start to rain again next Tuesday.

Weather looks good, Not to conflict with other group rides. Sunday November 23 has it all. But Saturday is OK. Depends on what is most popular.
Can Post in Group ride section tomarrow if this is decided on.

STN Death Valley Ride this weekend.

OK, the Weekend after this Sat. 29 or Sun.30th for 'Tin Butt'.
Be checking weather reports next week.

This doesn't have to be a one time only ride.
Could do a Recon ride this weekend. Check the route for hazards, awkwardness. Time table it and traffic conditions.

"Recon Tin Butt" can be this weekend.

Try out a Starting point roughly equal distance from everyone in Bay Area is San Leandro. Most interesting route to connect to Tin Butt. Eastward. Crow Canyon, Tasajarra, Highland to connect to the route at Morgan Territory/Highland. Reverse this route at the end of ride to meet back in San Leandro.
bsd43 idea of reversing the route. Means no bridge tolls at all. Enough money saved to pay for lunch. It would be extra insentive for more riders to attend.
Say meet in San Leandro. Ride starts 9:00 am. At the Morgan Territory/Highland junction continue on Highland to basically do the Mines Ride over Mt Hamilton. Continue on the Route.

Do I post this in Group Ride section ?
"Recon Tin Butt" for Sunday Nov. 23.
Meet in San Leandro at a Starbux there, ride starts at 9 am. Map included

Tin Butt I road this Sunday. Combining popular local ride loops into one mega ride.
Map used during this recon ride. Primative but did use it several times along the way. Reverse side had more detailed mapping for Empire grade and Hwy1 jump sections.
http://www.bayarearidersforum.com/forums/images/threads/000/051/273/751078-tinbutt2.jpg
Consider time for gas, rest stops, lunch and dinner, the ride is 13-15 hours. 11-12 hour saddle time. Length is roughly 400 miles.
Short days of winter suggest starting 6-7 am. I started at 9 am at 2/3 rds through the ride it got dark.
Was a good test of winter gear. The early morning and evening temps plus wind chill all during a cold snap.
Patches of Ice on the road was east facing higher altitude road. Mainly on San Antonio Rd up to Mt. Hamilton. That section of road was recently graveled, and the ice didn't effect traction. Ice formed on puddles next to the road along Mines rd. None on the road itself tho. Water that runs across Mines rd during the winter, none present. It will likely freeze when it is present.
Early evening quickly got just as cold as morning along Hwy 1 north of the bridge. East roads torwards Petluma are very cold another Ice hazard area. The road from Olema going east toward Petluma. It's one crappy road :D asphalt patch on top another it's one rough ride. Speedlimit is 40-55 mph. Doing it at night didn't help :D
Another very rough section is Jameson Rd near Boulder Creek SC mountains. The road is classic goat trail. It's wide and route takes the road uphill. Gazos Creek rd and Swanton Rd the Hwy 1 jump loops have rough sections. Morgan territory has it's goat trail one lane section.
Overall Tin Butt's roads are passable by bike and beast.
The majority route roads are excellent twisites. NorCalBusa who put together Tin Butt, likely had Sportbikes in mind. Enough straight sections to rest up for net set of curves. No way around it tho, It's a work out.
Not sure how other handle it. But turn turn turn that later in the day. Some wierd shit happens. OK lift the left hand from the handle bars like many times before. But did that and right hand started to coutersteer. It's one of those taken for granted, conditioned response brought on by becoming a turning machine :D Started to make concious effort, OK I'm taking left hand off now to raise the visor. Right hand don't get carried away :D Didn't zone out, but the time length of the ride is very dangerous.
Anyrate use the Recon info to make Tin Butt a bonnified group ride.
Attached images are time stamped.
