I can see the "logic", commercially speaking, in hiring Xaus to Ducati, but I can't understand why they would knowingly hire a guy that can't beat their A-Rider. Why not take a chance on EBoz, or one of the other unemployed GP riders like Haga, or anyone else? Hell, even Abe won on the Yamaha for him a couple of times! Granted, they will be on "03 machinery too but as Luis said, "Neil won WSB on year old equipment too". I don't see that happening here. If I could change just ONE thing about racing, it would be that ALL the riders with factory support of any sort get "A List" bikes, just as Honda is said to do this year. Let them battle it out amongst themselves on equal machinery. Dang, sounds like a great plan! Maybe we should start a new series with equal bikes, homolgamation rules and... and... oh, nevermind. We tried that already. Welcome to Grand Italiano! Spain, you're invited too. Japan, England, America and Brazil? You're on your own!:x Xaus in GP... Sheesh!:hand

i don't know if they KNOW he won't be a contender. he certainly was a strong rider this season. not too many getoffs (relatively) and several podiums/wins. also he does have a relationship w/ ducati the others don't have. if neil is going to be their "A" rider at least they can have xaus run interference w/ all the other riders since he always looks like he's going to crash. :p i think it's sorta like the camel/pons team w/ ukawa, i don't think ukawa will ever be a world champion, esp. i such a thick field of talent.

It could be Ducati's way of hoping Xaus takes out other competition as he crashes out letting the A riders get the podium.....

I think it's more of an experience thing. Isn't xaus like 20 years old?

The rest of the ducati riders are older.. right?

Maybe they are banking on him for the next 5 years or something.

xaus was born in 1978, started riding professionally in 1992, and has never won any championship at any level higher than 80cc (yes that is eighty) SuperMotard in 1993. his second place this year is his best championship finish since.

Xaus on a GP bike. That's funny. And you thought the other riders bitched about Melandri being dangerous. It'd be funny if he weren't such a danger to himself and others. Doesn't he still hold the record for crashing twice on one sighting lap?

Expect a lot of this. But with more fire.

"Taking out the A-Riders"

Didn't Foggy used to do that a lot? If I'm not mistaken, he's the one that was totally supportive of Xaus to Ducati. Hmmm.... I smell a conspiracy here but since Foggy hates Neil now, this may get messy!:laughing

I like Chaus (that is actually the correct pronunciation of his name). He's an entertaining rider. The only gripe I have is not being able to see him ride at Laguna next year. He and Neil will not be anywhere near the front of the MotoGP pack next year though - that is my honest opinion. But if Haga is gone who else is going to provide the no holds barred action that only the X-man is capable of unleashing!

A man called Barros. It's his time now...

Riders like Andrew Pitt [02' WSS champ] Kurtis Roberts or Xaus have no reason to be in MotoGP.
They should have sent Ruben to AMA and make McCoy, Neil's team mate at Ducati.
All I really care is that both Nicky and Collin are on Hondas for next year. :) Its time for the US boys to get back on top. This year roked in MotoGP, next year will be even better :cool

Raul you are almost correct. If Nicky is in MotoGP Eboz should be too, he has beaten Hayden and is definately as tallented if not more so than the above mentioned riders. :cool

The Boss on a GP Duck, imagine that...

edit, yes i think Eboz has more potential than McCoy. I know McCoy can ride but i really question his health. Yeah Eboz has been dinged up a bit too the last 2 yrs but he has youth on his side.

I can't help but flash back to Colin, in flames, on the Aprilla. Xaus has got some serious flameing to do to get to Colin's level.

Colin Edwards: Master of the flameing GP!!!

Ducati takes care of its riders who do well for them. Granted, Xaus has not won a championship, but when he's not getting-off, he's very fast. Most fast riders have lots of get-offs early in their career....Fogarty and Rossi are the latest examples. But once they've got their head dialed in......they're fast.

exactly.... :thumbup

someone said something about xaus crashing twice in a sighting lap, which was Laguna 02....but did you see him win race 2 at laguna about 12 seconds ahead of the rest of the pack?? Lets give him a little more credit, he is there, he must be there for a reason, maybe we don't see the reason....someone at Ducati must have.....again, he was known as a rider that crashed alot, but I think he is starting to get it together (he is 25 btw), his crashes this year were minimal compared to the previous few seasons, and as mackey said, a 2nd in SBK isnt too bad....we can all speculate this and that....but only time will tell....

either way, next season will be off the hinges, and I cant wait!!

I agree that EBoz is ready to go MotoGP [at least as ready as Nicky was last year] but the reality is that he dosn't have the sponsorship required to back him up in MotoGP.
Hopefully will get it as soon as he wins the AMASBK championship

Xaus= Big White Spanish Haga

So true, so true. You know what? I say instead of WSBK, that they make a new series called Xaus-vs-Haga. Put them both on equal bikes and then release them from their cages!

Now that is a series in itself....I would watch!!! :thumbup

and I would give them several extra bikes each with the ability to quickly change to the next bike if they crashed hard enough. That way both might finish the race. It would be kind of like a Suzuka 8 hours but opposite, with only two riders.

Now that would be entertainment
