A Bay Area expat now living in San Luis Obispo. I ride up to the Bay Area once in a while, and I hope to do some riding with my brother. He just bought a CBR600F4. I'm currently looking to buy an FJR1300, so if you know of one for sale, let me know!

GOLD !! :welcome to barf

You're in Central Cal? Be sure and check out this post where us sport-touring nuts are planning out a route right now. We just might be riding right past your house! :shhh

Pashnit, you guys are using Morro Bay as a base - that's about 15 miles north of me, and yes, you will literally drive right by my house.

I hate to admit this, but I haven't done much riding in the Central Coast area. I've ridden out to Carrizo Plains to see the wildflowers in Spring and done a few backrounds exploration rides around Northern Santa Barbara county.

I'm looking to buy a new motorcycle right now, and I'm sure I'll do a lot more riding once I get it.

Yeah, the weather in San Luis Obispo surprises a lot of people. It can be 85 degrees during the day, then drop to 50 degrees when the sun goes down. We get a marine layer that comes in off the coast and it's COLD. It's took me a long time to get used to it!

A thick sweater and a pair of winter gloves are necessary for morning or evening riding, even in the summer.

the weather along most of the norcal coast can be like that. Riding along the coast near big sur can be amazing or miserable depending on the fog.
