I am in no way associated or work for this company. I've been looking for a good back protector for awhile now since my TZ-1 has some crappy grey foam as a "back protector." I really wanted one that would slip into my jackets "back pocket" but was willing to get one with straps since they fit better. I really liked the A*S Tech Back Protector except the the price.

This is my review of it. I first came upon it on r6messagenet.com and another rider gave his review on it. Seems good and it is, as the site states, "The lowest priced EN1621-2 Level 2 armor available ANYWHERE in the WORLD." For reference purposes Johnsons Leathers back protector is the same level. At 75 dollars(Free priority Shipping) it is a GREAT price. I decided to email them and ask some questions to the sizing. I bought the Large 6 plate one. When I recieved it, I was surprised to see it was not very thick. I believe its around the same thickness and a little longer than the Dainese ones. The shoulder straps were adjustable and I rode with it underneath my TZ-1 back across the Bay Bridge. It looks like it would hold up in a crash and feels really comfortable. I immediately got used to it while riding. I felt a little to "protected" when wearing it since it felt like i wanted to test it out. The material feels like any other back protector thats made by the bigger brands but at a lower price. I am 5'7 around 145 lbs and it fits me perfectly. the last plate covers my tail bone which feels nice and secure.

I know it does, but its legit since it passes the European safety test and doesnt cost 160 dollars.

well if you're gonna rip off someone elses designs, dainese is a good place to get started.

hmmm i just looked at their site and all of their gear looks that way.
:hand

I still dont get your pt? A copy in design does not mean it does not work. Read the cbrworld review, since the rider crash tested the armor on track.

Heres some info from the guys at HighVelocity in response to the "rip off design."

There currently isn't one single Dainese back protector that surpasses our
CE rating and overall transmission level of 4.49kn. Furthermore, all Dainese
back protectors MUST be thrown away after and single impact due to the
aluminum inner core construction. Since when is aluminum the best possible
material for impact absorption, especially over more than 1 impact?

While their product looks like Dainese the overall inner construction of the
velocity gear armor is nothing short of superior. Do your own research and
you'll see that Dainese isn't what it's cracked up to be.

For all those who are diehard Dainese you may want to consider that Dainese
is not only seriously overcharging it's customers but they are also NOT
providing the utmost protection possible for it's customers.

The money you pay for Dainese products goes more to factory riders and
advertising than it does to the actual product.

If you have any questions please feel free to ask.

Thank You
Best Wishes

I have the same protector and I'm happy with it so far. It tends to ride up a bit, but I have no doubts about its ability to protect me if I should go down. Even if it's not the best (who's to say?), it's better than nothing and damned reasonable in price.

ive been looking into getting a good back protector
this is great
thanks a lot Red6Rdr

Yay, my mission is accomplished. Cheap bastards have no reason not to buy a back protector now (if they are looking for one).

:laughing :laughing

good find....I saw this product before and find much similarities to Dianese stuff....

but also found that the people from Dianese broke off to create their own stuff such as those who went with Spidi.....

heck, Im open to anything whether its a major manufacturer or from innnovative new guys....

I rather be safe than busted....

good work, mang...:thumbup

Thanks V4, if barfers wont believe in me, hopefully they'll listen to you. I believe that the ultimate goal should be that every rider should do it as safe as they possibly can within their own limits. ie, money

don't mind me...bookmarking this.

uh, oh yeah, good post. Thanks for taking the time to do a little research on this.

Aren't the backprotectors from Bohn or Knox better? Better in offering kidney protection, better and sturdier material used and better looking (the bling factor) :)

I'm too lazy to research but I think Bohn and Knox probably passes the tough European tests while the bigger names dont (not sure why). Since level 2 is the current highest I think Bohn and Knox probably have extra areas of protection that the Velocity Gear doesnt. Bohn and Knox also cost more too so its all on you brah.

I may get this. Have any of you guys "tested" it yet, i.e. fallen on it? How did it hold up/protect?

Stan

nice looking back protector.

is this the same company from along time ago that had the snarling dog fangs logo? Velocity - Ferocity? that was a wicked sticker.
