Hey all, a problem just surfaced w/ my 91 VFR that has me a little worried. It is blowing 10A fuses that correspond w/ the indicators, brake lights, and tail light. I think there are two circuits that are going. I have the repair manual, but am totally new to bikes (but have done a lot of wiring on cars).

I dont really have days to be able to strip the bike down and then find the short or create a new wiring harness for it, so if anyone has encountered a similar issue, or if anyone has a recommendation for a great shop in SF proper, i would GREATLY appreciate it.

Thank you much in advance!

It's most likley the Regulator/Rectifier

mine used to go out every 10k miles, call a local shop and see if they can test it for you

What he said, I went through two on my 92 VFR. If you have a volt meter it's pretty easy to diagnose a bad r/r. Does it get hot after short rides? Is the battery getting hot? Could be that the r/r is not regulating voltage output from the stator and frying fuses.

When does it blow a fuse? find out what exactally causes it, ie turn signal > blow fuse..

Check out the light bulbs and make sure they are the right ones for it.

A bad R/R will lead to battery not getting charged. But, yeah check it out anyways cause they go out unexpectedly.
