The Saturday Ride: 13-Nov-04 - Mt Ham/Del Puerto - 10am, Window Cafe

Meeting Place: Window Cafe, 2650 Alum Rock Ave

If memory serves the eye candy factor of Viet coffee shops such as the Window Cafe @ 2650 Alum Rock Avenue (formerly Moonrock- thanks Gio) blows *bucks away and the coffee is better too.

The Ride: Up famous Mt Hamilton, stopping at the famous observatory at the top, followed by the downhill run to The Junction featuring a brief break and then the spirited but challenging run to the thriving metropolis of Patterson & Lunch prior to packing up, turning around and doing it all over again.

As anyone who has done this ride should know this is not a ride for newbies, pussies, sissies, the accident prone, the foolish or those who believe themselves to be either cool or immortal. Conditions change rapidly and there are abundant corners filled with debris just waiting to give you a hand piloting your bike off the hill.

Provided that turnout supports such there will be different groups.

I will take a brisk B group and welcome volunteers to lead other groups as well. Please post up with your expected pace if you intend to lead a group.

If you are unable to control your bike, control your self or properly maintain your machine you are heartily encouraged to skip this ride.

Nice to know the chances of an out of control sportbike coming at you over the DY is greatly reduced this weekend in the SC mountains.

Hope you guys have a fun and incident-free ride.

Brrrrrrrr:laughing

I'm interested, I'm looking for a C/C+ pace at best as both roads are new to me.

Well, the day started real easy on the eyes at the Windows Cafe. One comment I heard was that the waitresses were dressed like whores. I would have phrased it a bit differently, perhaps the waitresses were "well attired". Speaking of looking nice, it was surprising to see Gio's girlfriend and how attractive she was. Damn, gotta hang with Gio more!

The turnout was good, conditions after the summit of Hamilton got better, the cop who looked like he was going to be a major dick calmed down once he was proactively engaged and distracted.

Thanks to Gio for leading the C group and Allen for leading the A.

I hope that everyone's ride was as safe and fun as my group - some deer acted like they wanted to commit suicide, the park rangers were kind enough to pull over and let us by, the Stanislas Co Sheriff who could have been hiding in some nasty place was kind enough to be driving down the middle of the road with lights on and the scenery, especially Del Puerto, was stunning. Couldn't decide if it reminded me more of the grasslands of Mongolia or the aftermath of the Genesis device from Star Trek.

Thanks for another great day everyone!

Thanks BB. I didn't join up since I've never ridden the roads and always feel more comfortable riding solo the first time on a road (no pressure to do anything but ride my own ride). Would you mind posting of PMing me the route? I don't know that area so well.

And the GF and I used to be regulars at Sugars coffee shop off alum rock. Great waitresses! :thumbup

Thanks!

The route was real simple:

alum rock>130>stop at top of Mt Hamilton>130>del puerto to Patterson > del puerto>130>alum rock.

Some fucktards were drag racing and doing wheelies after the ride. This made me frightened and I wet my panties.

Take your time, take it easy, join this (or any other group ride) after you are confident in your ability to control your self and your machine in a complex, challenging environment. Sounds like you have a great attitude - you will likely be one of the good ones.

Where is Sugars exactly?

Sugars is a coffee house with half nekkid servers. Reminded me of a strip bar.

budbandit, how long is the ride, distance and time, from Alum rock to Patterson? i've always wanted to ride that route but been always out on a business trip. thanks.
