full size, real suspension, real wheels, real brakes, almost 30 foot pounds of torque

However, a measly forty minutes of battery life. WTF, guys? Why call it an enduro? It won't make it to the first gas stop in an enduro. That's MX range, and you better have a generator to recharge between practice and motos.

I'm really curious about the 21" rear wheel.
 
Looks awesome! I wouldn't worry about the capacity of the batteries, it's like anything battery related, they get better every day. They have two years of increasing battery technology too. I'm sure you can also sacrifice some more weight for more run time as well.

Anyway, I wanna see some video!
 
I think electric bikes suck cuz it is not a real MC but I do see the benefit in a area you must be quiet but still ahh I hope they get a fuel that bikes can run that is enviromentaly safe or something... :) btw 40 min is far too short I agree if I had to ride one... Must go like 2 hrs and then pop a spare in a go 2 more... at least.
 
Not a real MC? That thing looks to be a motorcycle in the truest sense of the word. A motor (which makes maximum torque from zero RPM, BTW) transfers its power to the rear of two wheels.

Meanwhile, it emits nothing that is regulated by state or federal bureaucrats. It leaves only one thing left for the haters to complain about: "Those damned dirt bikes tearing up the trails and causing erosion."
 
there are guys making those in Scotts Valley. I think there is a waiting list. With interchangeable batteries, you could rail for a while.

Zero bike? Something like that.
 
Well I understand what your saying about emissions and such an dthat is great but no reving crazy machine under your tail to hang onto...

I agree, run time needs to be improved, but it's the right first step.

You'd think it would be a cinch to get it plated! :teeth No emissions...
 
With the way things are going these days in regards to OHV access (or lack of it...) I really dig the stealth aspect of it. If they don't hear you, they won't know you're there.

you're totally spot on, but for more than just what you stated:

motors are electric
engines run on fuel

so, the term "motorcycle" as we commonly use it, is incorrect
 
it'll also be interesting to see how many tree huggers protest the events where these are run for using "polluting" generators through out the pits...

I don't care for the stealth aspect. I want to hear the other bikes in the woods to help prevent head ons and let me know where the rest of the riders are at.
With that said. I think the electric bikes will be the future of our sport.
 
"Motor" doesn't refer to specific type, though "Engine" does, an engine is a type of motor. To call it an enginecycle(assuming it were even a word) would be incorrect. Anyway, it's still a motorcycle. Isn't it fun to discuss semantics online? :D
 
There's a guy in my trials club that has an electric bike, way cool. The lack of noise is disconcerting at first but it lets you focus more once you're used to it (good for trials). The killer torque curve (or should I say plateau) makes it great for technical stuff. Too heavy to be competitive but most of us are the weak point, not our machines....

There's a great kids bike (Ossa) that is pretty competitive but it can carry a lighter battery due to the rider's size. It'll happen, and when it does I'll miss the devilish acceleration of my 550....

Is this an Off Highway Vehicle in California? (e.g., green sticker)

For shits and giggles, I emailed ZeroX - since they're CA-based - and asked if their electric thingy is a green-sticker bike. They said it can be registered as a green-sticker bike in CA, but comes with just a certificate of origin and a VIN. Might be a pain to get it registered.

On the other hand, could you really get busted for riding an electric moto at an OHV park without registration? Without any internal combustion, would it be any different, legally, from riding a bicycle?

The only place where I can see that they might try to stick it to you is that a motorized bicycle has some sort of human powered aspect, and the electric motorcycles do not. It would more likely fall under the same regulations that electric scooters do, and that, I believe, means with proper lighting you can put a plate on it.
 
I'll bet you anything if you got a green sticker and rode it at OHV parks, CA rangers would still ticket you for not having a spark arrestor on it. :p
