Three cats desperately in need of adoption

The kittens situation is dire, their foster parent has to move by the end of February. She & her husband are literally losing their home & cannot take the kittens to their new place. Unfortunately, I cannot take them at this time as my husband and I are fostering other animals. I know that the foster for the kittens is heart broken that she cannot do more. She wants the best for these kittens and she has so little control over the situation right now.

We have put out flyers, contacted other rescue groups, spread the word through the internet, taken them to adoption events (which is way too frightening for these kittens) & tried to find other fosters and/or permanent homes.

Breed: Feline
Location: Sacramento, California
Sex: Male
Age: 6 to 8 months
Description: Orange (male), Black (male) and Grey (female)were about 8-10 weeks old when they were found in a gutter in August 2010.They had worms and so many fleas that their first bath water turned red with blood.

They all had very bad eye infections and upper respiratory problems. Grey was the sickest (pneumonia & fever) but she would clean the other two, often licking their eyes. Now they are beautiful kittens but each has one good eye and one bad/weak eye. Grey has no vision in her bad eye but can see well out of the other one. They were originally so traumatized that they wouldn't respond to human touch - except to freeze in fear. Now they will sit in their foster mom's lap purring & they love to play. They are still shy of new people and noises but they are ready for "forever" homes. They are now in a very small, confined space (bathroom) and they need homes where they can be "normal, happy" kittens. They can be adopted together or separately. They need to be indoor only kittens.


BARF community, we are heart broken, but also can't adopt these poor kitties. I am making an effort to contact the animal lovers of BARF to see if someone might be able to give them a forever home. We contacted Best Friends Animal Sanctuary since we are going there in March, but unfortunately there were not able to accept them.

Poor little critters... I've posted a link to this thread on facebook.

Sadly, my girl has promised to smother me in my sleep if I bring any more home.
 
I'll print this out and post it at work on Monday. If I was in a better living situation I'd probably take the little girl, but I can't.
 
Man :(, wish I could help more. We just finally found Mitchy a home (after several weeks of trying to find someone to take him). I can try to help at least refer to a list of additional shelters, but its a tough world for our furry friends in need of homes these days. If we need to transport the cats, just let me know, and I can see what I can do! Sacramento to the bay shouldn't be difficult for me :).

I sent the link to a friend who is interested in getting a kitten...she recently lost her two old kittehs and is ready to adopt again. She likes the black kitten...what does she do now? We are in SF, so there are some logistics to be worked out if this goes down.

Can you PM contact info that I can pass along to her? Maybe one of these babies has a home waiting :)

This is a local group that takes in soon to be put down pets and takes in pets all the time and they are no kill, find a home for all. They work closely with local vets to ensure all are nursed back to health if they are brought in ill. Many come in with kennel cough and upper resp. issues and leave their care 100% healthy and ready to be adopted.
 
It is true that having more than one cat makes it easier on the cats. Gives them company while you're away.
 
Haha, she really would like all three, but she still has one cat at home. She had 3 before her old kitties died last year. Whatever one, two or three she adopts will have a dream home.

Oh, and she is going to call them tomorrow. Everyone, fingers crossed for teh kittehs!

Lost one of my babies last year, and already adopted a new one. And this has upset Tiddler no end. He is pissing EVERYWHERE :cry

And they fight - all the goddamned time!!

I may have to re-home the new girl as I can't deal with this.

If someone is in the livermore/tracy area or driving past and needs a kitten carrier, i have one i'm wanting to either donate or give away...

one of those ASPCA one's... i used it when i first got my kitten but he's too big for it now...
 
Let me know how things are going, if it gets close to the cut-off date...

I can possibly take them. Worst case scenario, we can give them their own space here at the crazy cat house until a home can be found for them.

Also, are they fixed?

Her response.

"Yes - everything has been done for the kittens. They are negative for FeLV (cat leukemia) & FIV . They have been spayed & neutered. They also have all shots. We will provide all of the medical records to any adopters. These are basically healthy kittens - just a bad eye in each. They are also shy kittens that will need someone who is calm and has a lot of patience. Their foster mom had been so good, gentle & patient. That is why they now sit in her lap and purr - amazing progress."

Hmmm, I wonder how well they will deal with a group of 6 adult cats (they would have their own room though, so they will have a nice giant area to hang out away from the others until they would get used to folks, and windows to look out of.

Wouldn't be permanent though, but if no one else can take them by the deadline, I still think I can at least keep them happy until someone can adopt them.
