Once upon a time a great provider. Two months of dropouts, service calls, hours on the phone, meeting techs, new modem, you name it I have done it. Finally they choked my speed down and it made it "better" but now I have slow service. Still can't get a supervisor to talk to.

Used to recommend. No longer.

Are you using Fusion or regular resold ATT DSL?

He's in Oakland, home of the loading coil.

Ernie, the line quality where you are is normally pretty bad; this is the legacy of PacBell maintenance.

They probably can't give you anything any faster with any reliability to it, but if you want escalation contacts I can dig someone up for you.

that... didn't answer my question.

It did, actually.

Those lines are way too long, and way too loaded for ADSL2+.

Fusion's an ADSL2+ product since T won't let them roll VDSL2.

ADSL2+ is nice and fast if you're close in (~around a mile of copper), but it's not any faster on longer and/or excessively loaded loops:

Most of Oakland is on 6k+ loops, because Bell never saw an indirect cable routing they didn't like. :)

I know. I just signed up for it, that's why i was curious.

I have fusion, Marlowe is correct, can't get ADSL2 with a mile of copper between me and the gear. I'm choked to 1.5mb and 40k upload sucks

Marlowe would love contacts. I've talked to at least 14 techs and have no patience left, and supervisor won't call back.

Ernie...wow, speed is low but workable. I hope your vid watching is OK. Yeah I'm sure it is!!!;0

why don't you try AT&T DSL over the same lines to see how that's gonna go with the speed...;) :D

had similar problems except my speed was 376kbps down; i would have been happy with 1.5mbps.

internal phone wiring was old. provider didn't matter. had both att and sonic.net. both slow.

switched to comcast/xfinity. 28Mbps down.

1.5 is all I can get at home as well. too many apartments with not enough mcmansions for them to bother to allow us access to the fiber line they tore up the street and laid down less than two blocks away. No U verse here.

PM the CEO here on BARF (danejasper), he seems to be very hands on and responsive. I'm stuck at 3Mbps...thinking about switching to something faster despite the nightmare customer service at AT&T and Comcast

How much are you paying, and how much data do you normally use?

Well, I finally got to talk to a supervisor and she seems to be starting the procedure of kicking the complaint up the food chain. AT&T and Sonic rep meeting at my house tuesday where they will plug in and determine the transient ( which is the major problem, transient dropouts lasting a few tenths of a second to fifteen seconds or more) is not manifesting. :laughing

However they are giving me credit for the time I have been having the problem so I am less pissed off.
