SC1 front SC2 rear. I got 5 days out of the rear being as gentle as I could and pushing a bit past the wear bars.

5 is unrealistic as I pickup my pace and it's a little cost prohibitive. Also I'm guessing I'll get less than 4 days between bw and th. I might give dunpops a try. Should I need to make any adjustments to my suspension and riding? I have developed a fairly smooth roll on but sometimes I need to be rolling on earlier

$400 for 1 set of tires is cost prohibitive after uve paid $1000 for 5 trackdays? . yes, race tires are expensive. but really, its speed that is expensive. as u get faster, u use tires faster and cant switch back to street tires. u could switch to a bike w/ less HP if u want to stretch your tire bill, cuz going slower is cheaper.

i can get 4-5 days out of the Med+ (8477) Dunlop rear slick riding at the top of A group at any CA track on 600. ive heard that tire is a little harder than the SC2, but dont have any personal experience on the Pirelli. the Med 7455 front last forever and can be changed whenever. i wouldnt plan on changing anything beforehand. ride the tires. if u find an issue, fix it then.

Haha well I buy ticket packs so I save some money there. Just exploring my options to see if there are ways to save some money while maintaining my progress.

Good call. The NRS is a full day of running back and forth between the classroom and the track with not much rest. I'll see you Monday morning.

I was reading this thread thinking, yea that's good advice, that too, think of cost - definitely, etc. Then all of the sudden I realized what an old fart I am and how we live in this modern warm fuzzy world where someone can easily get a bunch of answers online to "How to know when you're ready to race?"

Back in the old days, you know, when I was younger and had to walk 4 miles to school in the snow uphill both ways, things were different.

In the late 70's/ early 80's, my buddies told me that I was killing them on the winding roads and that I should race. For those not old enough to know, the AFM was around then too. So I just signed up for the NRS (yes, they had that back then too) and started racing. Not much fussing about, just did it. I only road raced for less than 3 years because I was stationed at Fort Ord at the time and eventually PCS'd to Korea. In the years since I came back stateside I've raced lots of other stuff besides road racing, and despite some of the injuries I sustained though out the years (if you are worried about crashing I do not recommend motoX) I do not regret one single second of any of it.

All the instant information we have available to us today is great, but it doesn't change the human spirit. If you are thinking about racing, and there is any way you can financially make it happen, then do it. Live life, it is a wonderful adventure.

Dog
