Hacking a 2005 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R

I wouldn't really call that a "hack"... People mod the gsxr ecu so that it doesn't retard the timing below a certain rpm... opens up a lot of power. There are a lot of things done to our bikes so that it will pass EPA requirements, which when removed will free up some ponies. Most however, are not worth doing as 1-2 ponies on the street are useless for the most part.

Hey buddy, I helped you to pick up a nice girl to take home to momma and now you're already looking into messing around with someone else's girl??? :confused:twofinger

Great site by the way, interesting hacks.
We gotta go for a ride someday. :thumbup

Anyone know if that works for the US spec 04-05 ZX10Rs?

No it doesnt work for a zx10/ The zx10 doesnt have the exhaust valve, only the 05 zx6r has it. All the mod does is fool the ecu into leaving the exhaust valve open above 13k. On the US model they had to make the exhaust valve close up top to limit the noise level of the bike. SO by leaving the valve open on top you dont have a drop in power at 13k. It doesnt really add power, it just doesnt let your bike cut power to meet noise regulations.

dammit erik its a hack and it makes more power! look at the dyno sheets! haha jk man..whats up i went by al's house for a bit to hang out. we gotta go riding man.

cheetah thanks again! haha...hit up one of the meets sometime man..i usually make it out to the thursday fremont meets...!

Lee, you should have called when you came down. I might come up and ride the bay to sac ride this weekend. Are you going?

The 2004/2005 Ninja ZX10R DOES have an exhaust valve. It's located just past the collector instead of just before the pipe. It uses the same style servo motor which is located under the passenger pad instead of the driver seat. It also has the SAME black connector under the seat with the same wires. I just want to be sure that they operate the same things...

Here's where it's located on the ZX10R.
