Net-Moto is all about change for 2007. We have two new racers and for the first time will chase the full AMA national circuit. We are also talking with a third racer to keep our two racer format in the AFM.
Team Changes:
Steve Conk will become the Team manager.
Danny Fernandes will become our Crew Chief.
We are talking to a couple of guys about wrenching for us as well.
Riders:
Kenny Carlotta will be our full time National guy.
Ricky Corey will be our full time AFM racer challenging for the 600cc titles that Bobby brought home to barf last year.
A little about Kenny:
Kenny Carlotta was born in San Jose California on July 7, 1986. The 20 year old young gun started racing in 1997 in San Jose, CA at the Barn Burner Short-Track Series. In his first race he took 2nd place. In 1998/1999 he was the 80cc high point champion for dirt track. Then in 2000 he racked 4 championships He was the high point winner for both the 80c and 100cc classes at the Lodi Motorcycle Dirt Track Series. In addition, he got two more championships in Club Moto in Livermore, CA for the dirt track series. So that year he was able to obtain 4 championships for dirt track!
Then in 2001 Kenny moved up to the 250cc class for dirt track. For his first year ever on the 250 he did the unthinkable. He won the championship! He won 21 races and took 3 seconds place finishes.
For 2002 Kenny moved up to the big dirt tracker. A 600cc rotax in a C&J frame. He moved up to the expert class, he had 16 top 5 finishes for that year. On top of that he also placed 2nd in the West Coast Amateur Nationals! With that finish he was eligible to compete in AMA Amateur Grand Nationals in Springfield, Illinois. He finished 10th overall and was ranked the 10th fasted Amateur dirt tracker in the United States in 2002!
In 2003 Kenny obtain his AMA Pro License and began competing in Gene Romero West Coast Flat Track Series where he placed 3rd in the point standings. Then in 2004 Kenny began his road racing career. He won two races in the 650cc class and on top of that had numerous top tens. In addition to that in the Gene Romero West Coast Flat Track Series he placed 2nd overall in the point standings and won numerous dash for cash races. In 2005 Kenny decided to retire from dirt track at the age of 17 and focus on his career in road racing. In the AFM 600 Production, in his first race he was able to obtain a 8th place finish from the 43rd starting position. He had 3 top five finishes. In the 600 Superbike class he received one top ten finish and 1 top five finish. He was 2nd overall in points in the 600 Production class until the unfortunate happened. He broke his collar bone on June 17th and that put him out for the rest of the year.
In 2006 Kenny started to compete in the AMA Road Racing Series. He competed in two classes, Formula Extreme and 600 Super sport. With his best finish, 15th in Formula Extreme at Laguna Seca.
For 2007 he will concentrate on road racing so he can achieve his ultimate goal of making road racing his professional career. He intends to compete in all of the AMA races. In addition, when scheduling allows, he plans to participate in the AFM races.
We will have on board video's of Kenny at many of the Nationals and other races to share with barf members. Kenny will also chronicle his adventures here on barf. Sort of in the "motoliam" style of stories sharing his travels, fun and insight into chasing his dream. This should be fun for our members to follow.
Ricky Corey is our other young rider. This 23 year old young gun stunned the American Federation of Motorcyclist racing organization by starting the year from the back of the grid and storming to the podium beating season veterans and the other competition. He started riding at age 5 and was second overall in the SMRRC mini bike racing in the Unlimited class and 3rd place overall in the 80cc Grand Prix class even though he competed in just 6 of the 8 race season. In 2005 he started his bike career learning the ropes and the tracks of the west coast.
In 2006 he finished 3rd in the intensely competitive 600cc production class where grids can be 60 riders deep. Now in 2007 he stands in the cat bird seat with the champion moving on and the second place finisher retired. He will no doubt carry on the Net-Moto dominance of the high coveted class and do the same in the 600 Superbike class. Hailing from Los Gatos he is a very focused young man. Like Kenny racing is the number one priority on his mind.
This should be a good season for us and we are excited to support these two young men.
Net Moto has re-signed with several sponsors and more is in the works.
Helimot will once again be the gear to protect the guys. Leo Vince will again be our exhaust system of choice. Repsol will be back too and we are really looking forward to continuing our involvement with the premiere lubricant company who once again holds the MotoGP championship. Cycle Finish Paint by Bobby Keith has just finished up blinging out Kenny new GSXR 600 making the HotBodies race body work look good. Action Reprographics once again will help with our promotional materials. TICO Construction and Choulos, Choulos, & Wyle are backing us as well with some enthusiasm we love to see.
We have signed a deal with Tigershark to put the guys on Pirelli's and also have inked a deal with Santa Cruz Cycle Imports to do our motors and help on performance tuning. Two shops have stepped forward to help as well. High Gear Powersports will help Kenny and SJ Yamaha will remain on board to support Ricky. Pacific Track Time is also a huge help and Mike Earnest has often mentored our riders sharing his vast experience. Zoom Zoom trackdays also give us some love. 4theRiders is the team's official photographer.
Each of the guys have some individual sponsors helping them out as well and we are chatting with a couple about becoming team sponsors.
2007 should be an exciting year for us and I am looking forward to continuing our progress and helping two fine young men chase their dreams.
