Like a good bunny, I did a search on the r6, and I did not come up with any problems. But I don't see any information on the 2007 models. I am going to buy one in the next few months when summer rolls around. When do you think they will be released and what changes will there be? Those with the 2006 models, can you tell me if you have any problems? tankU ~!~

we have seen a few here in the shop, nice bikes. the only issues we have seen has been the throttle response, it sucks! but that can be cured with some tunning. i believe the 07 model will be the same, no real changes. the other thing was the redline, it does not go to 17,500rpms!!! on our dyno it shows 15,600 or so.

Arent the 07's out already? I could have sworn that the Yamaha dealer in Burlingame has them...arent the charcoal gray and burgundy models 07's??

They're chick bikes. Other than that, they're cool. :p

:mad

they are good bikes, very lightweight, no power in the low range but a ton up high (like every yamaha), overall a pretty fun ride. you can tune the bike for more torque in the low's.

depending on the size of boots you wear there is an issue i was having with the shifter not clicking all the way down after an up shift, so i swapped the stocks out with some adjustables. that fixed the problem (and i dont have big feet by any means).

2007 is the same, and it is already out... you will basically be paying for updated graphics... yamaha likes to keep bikes basically the same for a few years and in the last year of the run they might update something minor... but i dont believe they did anything different for the 07.

Make sure you check on insurance before you buy, you might be in for a surprise. I must resist derailing this thread to promote SuperMoto.

Honda's are much better lookin IMO.

i had a 04 r6 maybe 05? i didnt care for it seem to lack something......

oh gosh, I just found a 2007 in grey in Santa Clara. I think I will go take a look and meybe make the biggest purchase of my life~!~ I'm excited~!~ Hopefully we can all ride together. I already bought all my clothes for msf from cyclegear.

wait, you're looking for a first bike and have never ridden before? don't buy an R6. starting on something that you can loop on throttle isn't a good idea.

So..... will this be your first bike?

edit: Nevermind, we've established that.

You do understand this "biggest purchase of your life" will end up laying on it's side within 6 months, right? I know you think that bike is "cute", but you may want to reconsider...

<-- Look at this sweet F4i I have for sale!

you havent taken msf yet?

a used ex250 or ex500 is a great starter bike, and if you pick one up used you can sell it for basically what you pay for it. then in a few months once you know you enjoy riding, sell the ex and dump your money into a bike that will lose all its value the first 5 minutes you own it...

The "problem" with the R6 is that it's a street legal track bike.

At first glance you'd think that would be great, it must be so fast. Well the problem is it is fast, for an expert level rider on the track. You will be paying a premium for the R6 but ultimately on the street you will be faster and more comfortable on any of the other 600's.

The R6 isn't a bad bike, if it floats your boat go ahead and get it. But I strongly recommend getting an R6S instead.
