Projector beam headlights in race fairing?

I've been wondering what to do with the race glass in storage for the GSXR, and have decided that I'd like to mount it up for a hybrid street/track bike. I've seen various pics of riders who somehow mount headlights onto race uppers. Methods range from sticking a simple light by the mirror location, to integrating a projector light from an '03 R6 or automotive PIAA light into the fairing itself. In the latter case, how would the mounts be affixed to the inside of the upper? I would think that you would need some range of motion in order to adjust the headlight aim.

FWIW I'm looking for a clean install such as this:

Any/all tips welcome, thanks. :)

Here's what I did:

PIAA Lights

Comp. Werks turn signals

OEM tail light fashioned into superbike tail

Works out pretty well. I take the lights off for the track and put another superbike tail on...

i'm pretty sure that's just the cage mounting point and there are fine adjustment screws to dial it in

True, but how is the mount itself affixed to the interior of the fairing? Srips of fiberglass and resin should be enough. Something like this...

I set up my AirTech f-glass R4 with a Hella 200w HID. Difficult task was to tuck in the ballast unit. Otherwise, the setup was about $400. Dropped about 14lbs in weight too!

And yes, it is brighter then the OEM dual beams and uses less gas too!

Anyone heard of HIR bulbs? Yes, that's HIR, not HID. Allegedly as bright as HID's without all the ballast and special wiring. :thumbup

that looks hokey. resins don't tend to stick to commonly available plastic that well. i'd be looking to glass in a tube with a flange the hid projector can bolt to. glassing all around a paper tube would be a good start, and a flange can be made of thin plywood

From what I've found, HIR produce about 2300 lumens...whereas HID's (generally speaking) produce 2800 lumens, and normal halogen produce 1500 lumen.

So they will look bright as hell compared to halogens; however, if you are worried about another reason for getting pulled over, HIR's are one more to add to the list! They are currently not street legal...however, personally, I don't think any HID's should be street legal in stock reflectors like so many people are doing. I'm fine if it's in a projector with the projector high angle cutoff inside the assembly, but.....that's here nor there....

Speaking of projectors tho... From what I've been able to come up with, if you plan on putting these in projectors, you may as well just flush your money down a toilet. These apparently will not work in projectors...or so they say. I'm sure they probably work in a handful...just not all..or something like that, but from what I've read, that's what they are saying at the moment. Hopefully they will start to mass produce these for all applications, as I'd love to add them in my projectors!

Moar ideas and pics. Project track/street GSXR starting :teeth

I can't afford PIAA's BTW
