Speeding on city streets can be deadly

camera car was going along at already a good speed.... moto a dumbass for wanting to go faster, and to be passing at that delta V.
moto also seemed to not only make the pass on the gas, but continue throttle after the pass was made = dumb. especially considering the road conditions.

granted the black car is just as much of an idiot pulling out like that. camera car had to hit the brakes to avoid hitting the black car.

of course, who is the bigger idiot matters little when you are the dead motorcyclist...

Hey, it could happen to ANYONE!!!

If you're saying you don't speed, you're LYING!!!

If you don't speed, why do have a sportbike?

When it's your time, it's your time, and there's NOTHING you can do about it!!!

Fucking cagers are all out to GET US!!!

blah blah blah...

i think what's happened here:
There are three participants of the accident:
1) moto
2) black car
3) camera car

- camera car completely blocked the view for black car
- moto, moving at high rate of speed was behind the camera car
- moto rider's view was also blocked by camera car
- black car driver estimated speed of camera car and decided to proceed safely with left turn
- at the same time moto started to pass camera car

So moto and black car likely did not see each other until it was too late. Their sightline was blocked by camera car

:thumbup

The blocked sightline here is similar to the one in the thread Motorcyclist cut off by old lady in car, but there the rider was passing on the right and the car crossed from his left.

Blocked sightlines are the subject of the 1Rider thread Hidden Hazards.

Man. That was a really bad decision.

Pretty much the rider did everything wrong. Godspeed dude.

He didn't even hit the brakes. No brake light, no skidmarks. Brutal.

i think he was on the brakes all the time while in the view of camera. I see both wheels are drifting, at least rear one. I know that bike can drift without falling on the side when both wheels locked, i used to do this on 250cc bike

As someone said, camera car was driving too fast for the conditions, dead rider didn't have a clue.

It could happen on any street, any road, anywhere.

Pretty much this.:(

Hard to say as it was damn fast, but I had a friend in high school jump off successfully in a left turn crash. He broke nothing where his bike powdered into the hood of the car. He was going 40 or so. Damn lucky.

Do you guys think anyone in that situation would think "Jump off the bike" ?

problem is rider was on a cruiser, which has a seating positing that is not very "jump ready".

a sportbike however, your legs are constantly in that 'ready' position.

big advantage in this type of situation where the rider could possibly jump their way over an otherwise almost surely deadly obstacle

yea... on my last highside, I did a backward somersault- landed on my feet. That ducati superbike seating position made me look like a boss on the dismount.
