Hey Guys,

I at the urging of some in the Mod core wanted to let you know that I was contacted by a large internet company about selling the barfs.

They tried a few years ago and I said no of course.
The amount then was pretty juicy and they said they could go substantially higher this time.

I wrote back I could not sell out my community. I love you guys way to much to let barf become and internet moto beacon of advertising mayhem. :laughing

Having Horsepower do the Meat Up BBQ just this last weekend is just one great example of sharing the passion for 2 wheels, the people that enjoy them and how barf brings that together is worth so much to me.

Sponsoring racers, working with the AFM, the group rides, the social gatherings, helping stranded riders, helping our fellow riders when in need, getting to help influence the State of California on Moto safety.. .. etc etc.. are all awesome things that could be lost. Holding that in the highest value is where my heart is.

Every time I see a barf sticker or license plate on a bike or a car.. I go f*ck yeah.

This place is so special to me.. I am such a schmuck..! :laughing

They want it to make money, how do they plan on doing that? Depending on the terms, I don't necessarily see it as the fall of barf, nor as a "selling out" move on your part.

Also, all current members are to remain ad-free for life, and all current sponsorships are to remain and be increased as the site makes money off ads.

I ain't that greedy. So, a couple hundred thousand shares would cover my $ contributions to barf. And my goodwill is worth another three hundred thousand shares. Therefore, about half a million shares should cover my end.

Be careful about ownership... may seem symbiotic at first, then they start making restrictions in order to maximize revenue. Telling mods to ban anyone who speaks ill of the ownership, no swearing, bigger ads that you are forced to watch, half the posts are ads, etc.

What it is worth, money wise...depends on the parts.

Now it functions because of the efforts going into it The Budman, and the Mods, and the members.

It could be compared to how strong is a chain, it is as strong as the links that make up the chain.

What is the qualification, of the interested buyer?

If they aren't a Budman, (and who is?) They could/most likely, be the weakest link, that weaken's the other links, that sends the BARF into the garbage heap, at the speed of light.

Gobs of sites have self destructed, and became worthless.

My advice as a partially banned member is to cash in. Everybody has worked hard for the success of BARF and if the buyers fuck with the formula it will die. Nature abhors a vacuum and it'll be back in one form or another. Change happens. Advice to the buyers: Female nudity.

Tell the opportunistic leeches to suck it. :x

Keep teh BARF the way it is, warts & all. Selling it would almost guarantee that the AMA sponsorship would be abrogated and all Mods would be signing NDAs & non-competes for years, so there would be no competition. That sucks and would kill this community faster than anything else.
