Why does it always Rain???

Why cruel fate? Why does it always rain, or look like it's going to rain right before the weekend? I mean, all week it's been nice and sunny, but I'm stuck at work, slaving away for the man! Now the weekend is here, and I'm checking weather.com every 5 minutes hoping that the rain symbols will go away. Friggin frick! Sorry, I'm a whiner who hates to ride when it's wet out.

Anyway, on a side note, does anyone know of a good torque wrench and a power drill 14v? I'm looking to buy both soon. The torque wrench, I'm getting because I want to work on my bike the right way, as I'm a bit paranoid about over/ under tightening my bolts. Would like it near factory specs. I went to sears, and the torque wrenches there are like 60 bucks!!! is that normal?

Yeah torque wrenches are costly dude.

If you want, the uber cool DIGITAL snap-on one is only about 300 bucks :teeth

As far as the cordless drill... I'd go for something with a good warranty and good battery life. I have a Milwuakee(sp) and it rocks. DeWalt is good stuff too.

A good tool is worth the price. It's been awhile since I've purchased their tools but I remember them a being quite decent. It would suck to buy a crappy torque wrench and have problems later.

Rain? Learn to embrace it my child! Or not. If I'm in the mood, it's great fun!
 
For the drill, I would go with Makita. I have heard, from a friend, that the DeWalts break pretty easily when droped (not flaming, just what I have heard)

As far as hand tools, can't beat Harbor freight in Newark.They have killer prices on decent tools. As far as drill's, any top name ones are good. I have had my 14V dewalt for 4 years. It had been thrown, dropped off of 12 foot ladders countless times, kicked, spit on and beat with a hammer, and it still works fine.
 
Why not get one of these for your 1st torque wrench,just as accurate as the cheap twist grip and it's only $20.

I've got a dewalt 14.4V drill. I bought it when I was working in the sunroof industry (cars) and it's kicked ass ever since I've gotten it. Beated to death and still works like horse. (But any big name will do.) 14.4 is plenty of power for just about anything joe-average needs. If you're really into building then I'd look into an 18 volt.

Make sure you get an extra battery if you're planning on really using it alot.
 
Get a corded drill and a cheap cordless,

i was using my mikita to mix mortor one time and the battery would die after like 3 minutes of mixing :wtf

rain rain go away, :rolleyes oh well just dress for it, ever notice it starts raining right around 5:pm
 
Man, I guess you missed all the pictures people posted this week their 'playing hookey' or 'calling in sick' rides.

When the sun is shining, you got to take advantage. Especially during a long, difficult, cold, rainy, weekend-rainy, winter.

Hang in there.

Oh yeah, 60 bucks for a decent torque wrench aint a bad price. Borrowing one from your buddy is an even better price.
 
hmm, thanks for the advice on the drills, I'm looking at the DeWalt. Since I got your attention, what's the difference between a 1/2 and 3/8 inch? is the 1/2 more versatile?

I'd give the Dewalt 14 volt my vote any day. I have never had a problem with them nor have anybody I know. The 14 volt is actually better than the 18 volt in my opinion. There isn't much difference in power but the 14 is quite a bit lighter than the 18.
As for torque wrenches, I use the ol' tried and true bar type like the one pivtured above. It's accurate and easy to recalberate (just bend the bar back to zero when/if needed).

Needle-type torque wrenches are notoriously unstable, accidentally drop one on a hard surface even moderately and there go the settings. I've had a set of three Craftsman click-type wrenches for almost ten years and they're bulletproof. Besides, they have a lifetime warrenty! :teeth

Dude, did you just completely miss the last two weekends we've had? Both of them BEAUTIFUL, and even more appreciated that they slid in when they did. Yeah, it's supposed to rain nights and maybe light rains during the day this weekend, but for the last two we've gotten, and thinking of what time of year it is...I think it's a fair trade!

Well hosmurf,

Warm air turns the water from rivers, lakes, and oceans into water vapor that rises into the air. That water vapor forms clouds, which contain small drops of water or ice crystals (depending on how high the cloud is and how cold it is).

As clouds rise higher and higher, the air gets colder and colder. When the water vapor in the cloud becomes too heavy, it falls back to the ground as rain or snow.
