Anyone wanna help me out with my throttle on my XR? I had to install my BBR throttle since the Fast50's is all messed up (missing peices) and I can't get an spring on the throttle cable or in the throttle (like how the throttle usually snaps back, in mine it's allll slack). My girl is using the computer, so could you guys e-mail some help if you know what's going on?

david.rhea@earthlink.net

I'll here the e-mail. Or if you want, gimme a call and help a brotha out. I'll be working on it all f-ing night. 408.861.9596

On second look, it seems that my problem is that there is NO slackin my cable. My throttle cable won't pull at all, like it's too tight or something... I dunno, it's hard to explain. Someone come over and fix it :twofinger

New Update:

When I unscrew the end of the throttle cable that goes into the carb (the largest peicet hat screws onto the carb...), I have some throttle play, but it seems that when I screw that in all the way, the pin can't rise at all

that's the carb cap side. at the throttle side you can use the adjuster (loosen lock nut first) to get the proper slack. hopefully.

it's margerita time. back later. have fun, you'll get it. remember to turn the bars lock to lock to make sure the cable doesn't bind and increase throttle by mistake. and don't break anything like I did :toothless

Yeah, it just doesn't seem to have enough to adjust right... pictures to come...

Part of the problem...

this is it.. when I screw this on all the way, the throttle cable has no slack...

Well, you know Max, I don't feel like anything is mine until I've broken something on it :rolleyes

Stupid throttle, it was nothing but a pain in the ass anyways...

omigod. that is EXACTLY what happened on mine :(

stupid carb cap interfere with the frame + too short or something. I think bbr is supplying the wrong cables. these got to be for the ones with extended intake manifolds. cuz it just doesn't fit the stock bikes!

and to add on to the mess, no instructions for torque values on the cast pot metal throttle piece so you go to snug it up innocently and then *CRACK* - it's toast.

if they would only put a 1 cent xerox copy of some instructs or specs or anything... :rolleyes

I have a spare throttle for sale if you want it, same price as online whatever it is. but call them and they'll probably do an exchange. just got to know they are so used to this. why someone there doesn't do something about this kit I don't know.

Yeah, I think Monday they'll be hearing from me. I just ordered the Fast50s (which SHOULD have come with the bike, but was missing a peice) cause i have the stock cables that fit that... these cables HAVE to be wrong... and yeah, they could at least post instructions on their site or something if they wanna save the $5 per 5000 buyers or whatever...

i'll keep at it until it turns to dust though. Luckily, that crack didn't go all the way around, so the peice still works (well.. theoretically... :rolleyes ), but I'm kinda pissed @ both BBR and the seller for packing the throttle in such a way that it fell out.

i got the bbr setup and everything went on perfectly, im in san jose (280 and saratoga) so if you need to compare cables just pm me.

dave if you want to take it to my place im pretty sure i can get it fixed for you, plus i have a bunch of extra parts if you dont have the right ones. i called you earlier today about the pegs but it just kept ringing. give me a call if you need help.
