If your not very mechanically inclined, you should invest in a service manual to get proper instruction with some pics, torque specs etc....
Its not hard to do, only takes like 15-30 minutes, easiest to remove one side of your fairings. -replace the crush washer, be careful not to strip the drain bolt threads, and put a towel on your headers to keep the oil off when you remove the oil filter. also buy a oil filter wrench, it slips over the end of the filter, makes it a piece of cake to remove, but dont use it to tighten the new one though, make it hand tight, snug, but no tools. add new oil, make sure you can see it in the window, and run it for a couple minutes, check plug and filter for leaks, check level, done. also check level, plug and filter the next day, or after running it for a while. good luck.
