Palm Desert, Salton Sea, Borrego Loop

Went riding again today. Had sunny weather in the high 60's. Not too bad, stayed warm. Had a good time riding from Palm Desert to Salton Sea then to Borrego Springs and up to Warner Springs and Anza and back to Palm Desert. Around 130 miles. Went for four hours including lunch in Borrego. It snowed last night and I came across snow on the side of the road where 74 and 371 cross.

Highway 86 out of Indio

This is along highway 86 south of Indio. Lots of date palms. Kind of straight until you get to Salton City and the Borrego Desert.

You can own land in California

Yes you can, just ask the land man. Salton City, a gas station, a market, a burger joint and this colorful land office.

S22 to Borrego Springs

Well enough of the travelogue about strange sights along the roadside and on to the riding. Here is the start of S22 from Salton City to Borrego Springs. It is the most fun when ridden at about about Mach 2.

Here is the start of the Anza Borrego Park. The sign just beyond he bike says this road should be ridden at Mach 1, which I managed to reach in about 3 seconds after taking this picture.
