hey I just got my first bike a week ago and I want to know if my oil is ok bit dont know how to check it all i see is the oil cap am i missing somthing is there a catch to this .....any help on the basic maintance on the f4i would be great cause i dont know squat...wishi could make it to docs maintance class..got to work

1st get the manual, best bang for the buck. as for the oil i'd just change it. i always change all the fluids on a bike when i get it. the oil change will run you about 40 if you do it yourself. its pretty easy on the f4i, you don't even need to take off the bodywork. you'll need a standard set of metric tools and a filter wrench and a catch for the oil. :teeth

to check the oil level, stand the bike up straight (have someone hold it) and check the little window on the right lower (there's a hole in the fairing, in front of a clear window on the engine case)

Or put the bike in gear (not running of course), kneel down on the right side while holding the right bar/front brake and look at the oil sighting window. It has two clearly marked ranges - max/min. As mentioned before, get the manual. Its worth every penny.
